anyone seen this DIY speaker design?

...a narrow baffled tower with a passive subwoofer mounted in the side. the receiver or amp would power the entire speaker as one unit. I think nht had a highly regarded speaker like this with a really narrow and really deep cabinet.

Doing that is going to make your room play even more of a factor than usual. I don't recommend it.

Sure it's a very popular design, except usually the woofer is bi-amped, as in the deftech BPxx series. It's an aesthetic/space compromise, nothing to get excited about. They sound good with the woofers pointed in towards each other but most poeple have stuff there like a TV stand.

I'd sooner go for a dual RS180 or SDX7 or Peerless SLS build.

My old JBL L7's were like that they where A 4 way that had 12in drivers on the sides facing towards each other....
