It is going to cost us $2,000 between now and January 1, 2009 - Crap!

I was just checking EB's web site and if all the releases hold true it is going to cost like $2,000 to buy all the great games coming out between now and January 1, 2009. There are like 33 new releases coming out that are pretty high profile, not to mention all the other games that haven't been getting attention. If the release dates hold, this is shaping up to be an incredible Fall/Winter for gamers.

Gears of War 2 and Too Human for me. Everything else I am not interested in.

Fret not. 90% of those "high-profile" games are going to underperform/underwhelm and you'll find you can get fine just by renting them.

Cool promo videos do not a great game make.
And Sturgeon's Law still rules...

$60 for Too Human, $40 for SOCOM and $90 for Gamefly here.

What games are they WilliamR?

I will say this, though, probably about 15 of those will be pushed back into 2009, and 10 more of them will be kind of lame. I could probably list 30 or 40 games I am looking forward to this year, but I doubt I will end up owning 10 of them.

3. Tiger Woods 2009 (I need a new Tiger game, my last one was 2006 and it sucks)

Yes I have been on military leave from them for 6 months now

What's with the lack of love for Star Wars: Force Unleashed?

that game looks awesome and I've only seen one person mention it in this post.

$2000?!?!

Sometimes I'm glad I'm not a heavy gamer. I'm probably only picking up GOW2, COD and Forced Unleashed, with possiblity of Dead Space, Too Human and Resident Evil depending on reviews.

Oh, and I'll probably grab Guitar Hero World Tour (never bought any of the other ones or Rockband, so that would be my first foray into that kindof game)

It's amazing how shooters are dominating the release charts. Sure, I'll get Gears 2 but I'm pretty much shootered out and I'm somewhat disgusted by how the shooter trend is causing other very deserving games to get shut out (like Soul Calibur IV).

Oh, and to the people here who think that they'll get God of War 3 or Resident Evil 5 before 1/09: keep dreaming.

Do you seriously think even half of those will make it out?
$2000!?

i'd say $60-$120 (plus tax) for me.
You guys must be balling and have a ton of time on your hands if you seriously spend $2k on gaming software between now and 2009. I'm still trying to beat GOW and SSBB.

Capcom did away with zombies. It took 'em 3 versions of RE4 to see the light.

Resident Evil 5
Lego Batman
Left 4 Dead
Call of Duty World at War
Rock Band 2
Gears of War 2

Not exactly sure where I stand as far as Alan Wake & MK v DC are concerned.

Only Need Socom, GOW2, maybe Cod5 & Rest2
post #30 of 67
I'll be getting Gears 2 and Left 4 Dead (PC) - that's it for sure. Possibles are:
Guitar Hero World Tour (depends solely on instrument compatibility)
Star Wars Force Unleashed
Rock Band 2 (doubt it'll be out by 1/09 since it's not even announced yet, tho)
