Replacement cupholders for Berkline 090s

I saw some replacement cup holders over at AV-Outlet. They even have some cool LED lit cup holders.

Yes, they are available. You can get just cup holder reclacement. You can also get alumium cup holder inserts (can be bought in BLACK or SILVER) or lighted cup holders.

Where can these cupholders be purchased? I Hate the " two tier" design of my plastic one in my Berkliner. Where Are stainless steel, aluminum or brass replacement holders available?

The aluminum inserts were only available by order from Berkline. Since they are out of business I cannot order them any longer, but I am looking into it, and may have a solution in the future...

^^ Roman, I have a similar question regarding the stock plastic cupholders in our Berk 13175's. Though the cupholders are not broken, I've wondered if they could be replaced with a metal style (thinner-walled) that has a slightly larger inside diameter for accommodating more glassware.

And if there was a viable replacement available, how easy would it be to replace without damaging the surrounding leather?

Unfortunately the cup holders on imported groups are different, and the inserts will not fit there. Their have different size... I do not have a solution for you, sorry.

I've gotten so frustrated with the narrow cupholders of the imported Berkline group, that I'm seriously thinking about drilling the hole out larger to insert larger cup holders. Can larger cup holder replacements be had anywhere?

I found some cup holders by searching for poker table accessories.

I used hole cutting drill attachments and was able to put in larger brass cup holders. Love them. It was a bit of a challenge with my imported group Berklines, as the end seat arms are a bit narrower than the interior arms, but I was able to still cut out the opening.

I'm much happier with these new cup holders.

I used two hole saws, one sized to cut out disks to be glued into the existing openings, so that the second saw can be used to cut out the larger opening.

I used duct tape to protect and pull the leather and padding back, out of the way of the saw. You will need to cut the leather openings a bit to allow for the larger holder (about a half inch in my case).

Note that the end arms, I had to cut into the wood on the sides of the arm to fit it in. This in theory would weaken it, but it seems to be okay.

You should be able to just lift them out, either by using friction of your hands on the inside of the cup holder and pulling, or slide something under the lip.

Yes, 13175s, the cup holder is the brass jumbo, 70-2019.

Our 13175s are in a IOIOVOIOI configuration, so I would have four straight arms and one wedge arm to work with. How easy was it to drill out the holes bigger after removing the standard cupholder? What were the two diameters of the hole saws you used? Did you by chance take any pictures during the modification?

And I'm not sure why you had to glue in discs just to cut them right back out with a slightly bigger hole saw? I'm not a woodworker by any means...

As crazy as it may sound, many boat accessory sites sell cupholder inserts too (either plastic or stainless). Although they have a drain hole, you can easily use the rubber insert from your old cupholder to line the bottom of the new one. One source is Overmans.com

The smaller one to cut out the inserts was around 3 1/8", and could have been a bit larger. The larger one was sized for the new cup holders, so depending on what you bought your's may be different, I used 3 5/8". I strongly urge you to take your own measurements.

You're sawing through plywood, so the actual cutting isn't all that difficult, but being careful not to catch on or tear the leather or padding is what is tricky.

Hole saws have a conventional drill bit at the center to keep the circular saw centered until you are able to get the cut established. So, without the glued-in insert, you have no good way to keep the saw from being centered or from jumping all over the place.

I suppose you could use a scroll or jig saw, but I'm not that good at cutting circles free hand, and with the leather and padding in the way, you don't have a good surface for the saw to guide on.

I thought about taking pictures, but didn't know how it was going to turn out, and since there wasn't much activity on the thread, didn't bother to do it.
