This is not a thread about the PQ or audio. There's other threads for that going already. The packaging for this set is the worst I've seen for a Blu-ray release. First off, the booklet doesn't fit inside the outer case...
That's just inexcusable! That's off the chart poor.
Then, there's the inner, fat case with a centre swing-out to house 4 discs. The swingarm holds a disc on each side, bad idea! The first time I opened my set yesterday, disc 2 fell out. I caught it. I put it back on and closed the case. I decided to give the case a new chance, a fresh start. I opened it again and disc 2 fell out. This happened about 5 times in a row until miraculously it stayed on the stubby spindle. So, I tried it again and, of course, it fell out.On the flipside of the swingarm where disc 3 resides, it appears to stay on better....for now...after some more use who knows? However, every time I removed it, disc 2 did wha'....that's right, fell off.
Let's skip ahead to attempting to play disc 1 which is on the left interior wall of the fat case. It sure looked like it would be easy to get off. It was not. I was scared the disc would break as I struggled to remove it. I haven't even attempted to remove disc 4 yet on the right side, interior wall.
Alot of folks hate Warner's book cases. I'm not enamoured with them but don't hate them. Atleast they're rather funcional....until the digi-pack teeth start breaking off someday. The Godfather case is totally dysfunctional as far as I'm concerned. This is absolute, bottom of the barrel packaging. Nearly anything else would be better.
If Vito Corleone was alive today, I bet he'd say this packaging doesn't respect the family and make Paramount an offer they couldn't refuse. This packaging should be sleeping with the fish!
Instead of a rebate, I'd rather have a better package. This junk should be recalled.....not the discs, the packaging.
