Flashpoint on CBS - Page 3

Tonight's season finale was incredible! I've loved this show since day one and each season seems to get better.

It was the season finale? Is it all the episodes that were made for CTV?

Nothing on the DVR guide for next week ... NFL instead.

Yes, that was the season finale. And it was a great one.

Apparently CBS is dropping Flashpoint and it is being picked up by ION. Here is a quote from the link below:

"In other ION news, the network has picked up the second half of "Flashpoint's" season and is likely to air it starting this fall. "Flashpoint" previously aired on CBS as a summer series."

Ion is picking up the final 7 episodes of this current season (season 4), plus they now own the rights to the previous seasons. CTV also announced that there will be a 5th season of Flashpoint in Canada, so the question is will it be shown here on Ion?

Well that certainly sucks.

We get ION here, but it's not in HD.

I agree that it sucks that D* doesn't carry ION in HD.

I believe they are going to show them in the fall in coordination with the Canadian schedule.

I thought the new season was starting when it moved to ION. I just checked the listing for the 18th and there are two episodes being shown, but they are old.

The first episode on the 18th, "Grounded," should be new (at least in the US, or at least I don't recall it.) The second episode is a repeat of the last one that aired on CBS.

Yeah, "Grounded" is listed as 2008, but the description didn't sound familiar.
Still, it's not exactly new as in a new season.

Second half of the "current" season. The episode list at IMDB is a puzzler. It looks like CBS might have skipped a couple of episodes a/o jumbled the airing order, which might explain why some storylines seemed to have popped up out of nowhere.

'Flashpoint' drama returns on ION
By Rob Owen, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - October 18th, 2011

The cop drama "Flashpoint" may not have been a buzz magnet on CBS, but it never failed to garner interest from Pittsburgh viewers.

Good news for them: "Flashpoint" is back this week but it's on a different channel.

New episodes of "Flashpoint" begin airing tonight at 10 on Ion, which acquired reruns of the series and the right to air new episodes.

For Pittsburgh viewers, this means checking out a new local station.

For years Ion had been available in Pittsburgh only on cable after a station swap deal involving WQED sister-station WQEX, Cornerstone TeleVision and Ion predecessor network Pax TV fell apart in 2000. When that happened, Pax, later to be Ion, made its way onto area cable systems.

Last year Ion finally succeeded in buying WQEX from WQED Multimedia. The call letters for Channel 16 switched from WQEX to WINP and on Oct. 1, Ion fully took over programming of Channel 16.

Ion airs programming on Channel 16.1 over the air with two digital subchannels, Qubo children's programming on Channel 16.2 and Ion Life lifestyle and wellness programming on Channel 16.3

According to Ion, this is where WINP can be found on local cable systems:

Comcast: Channels 4 or 16.
Verizon FiOS TV: Channel 16.
Armstrong: Channel 16.
Atlantic Broadband (Uniontown): Channel 16.
Citizens: Channel 14.
Consolidated Communications: Channel 7.
Dish Network: Channel 16/216.
DirecTV: Channel 16/305.

FLASHPOINT
When: 10 tonight, WINP.

'Flashpoint' Ending With Fifth Season
By Etan Vlessing, The Hollywood Reporter - May 1, 2012

TORONTO - After 75 episodes, the producers of ION Television's Flashpoint have decided the upcoming fifth season will be its last.

The police procedural, which airs in Canada on CTV, unleashed a series of homegrown crime shows on U.S. network TV schedules since debuting on CBS as a summer replacement in 2008.

Anne Marie La Traverse and Bill Mustos of Pink Sky Entertainment and Avamar Entertainment on Tuesday told the series talent and crew that production on the final 13 episodes will wrap in Toronto in late June.

While the series is still at its creative apex, we've decided to end the series on a high note, and give those fans the satisfaction of a fitting series conclusion in our 75th episode, Mustos and La Traverse said in a statement.

Flashpoint, originally created by Stephanie Morgenstern and Mark Ellis, was developed by CTV and produced as a pilot in 2007.

The police procedural stars Hugh Dillon, Enrico Colantoni, Amy Jo Johnson, David Paetkau, Sergio Di Zio and Olunike Adeliyi, and portrays an elite force in Toronto that deals with hostage standoffs and other crisis situations.

A year later in 2008, CBS jumped on board as a production partner just as the cop drama, a strike-proof series in the wake of the 2008 WGA strike, started production on its first season.

The Toronto-shot series bowed on July 11, 2008, simulcast on CBS and CTV, and secured impressive ratings on both sides of the border.

The cop drama aired for three seasons on CBS, before the U.S. network signed a complex syndication deal with ION Television to bankroll a fourth season of 18 episodes.

That deal also made all 51 episodes of Flashpoint available to ION, in addition to the fourth season.

Meanwhile, CTV continued to support the homegrown drama, despite the dwindling support from CBS. If anything, the early success of Flashpoint on CTV got the Canadian broadcaster into a host of other homegrown crime dramas, including The Listener, which earlier aired on NBC, and more recently separate crime novel series by writers William Deverell and Giles Blunt, now being developed as possible TV crime dramas.

And ION Television in March renewed the cop series for a 13-episode fifth season, following CTV's decision to do the same.

Flashpoint also airs in more than 100 markets worldwide, including RTL2 in Germany and Canal Plus in France. La Traverse and Mustos executive produce Flashpoint, with co-creators Ellis and Morgenstern heading up the writing department.

Trish Williams and Gosia Kamela are the CTV production executives under Corrie Coe, senior vp of independent production.

Vera and Tele Munchen are the international distributors.

Anyone know if the new season will start as a summertime show or in the fall?

Same here. Either the mainstream has good taste in programming and I don't or the other way around because my favorite shows always get the ax and the shows I can't stand seem to go on forever.

Based on seeing Enrico Colantoni appearing in so many other shows while Flashpoint is allegedly in production, I'm guessing that it's not coming back for a fifth season. Pity.

The show ended after 5 seasons with the series finale airing in Canada Dec 13, and Jan 22 on ION..
