Construction started October 2007 after reading these forums for 2+ years. Most of the construction was done within a month with my father-in-law's help (he actually led the charge). It took me around three months later to finish up (Countertops, star ceiling, finishing, etc).

Equipment includes:

Carada 128" BW 2:35 screen
Sony vw-60 projector (Black Pearl)
Onkyo 875 reciever
B&W 601 speakers, subwoofer
Klipche ceiling speakeras (Final 7.1 rear speakers)
Motorola Cable Box
PS3
Toshiba a-35.

Lutron Spacer system lights are controled by Harmony 880 remote.

First row (Couch) is 13' from the screen. Room is 24' by 13.5 ' with "jog" (Where bar stools are) 18' I had to orient the room this way as the theater couch is 15' long! (First mistake of the build, bought couch before sizing room).

Please ask all and any questions or coments. I have not posted much but spent hours upon hours reading this forum and learning, and would be pleased if I could help others in their build.

Jason.

No, I decided to try zooming first and then look at adding a lens. My projector is on the bartop and the Sony has remote zoom so it is quite easy. I do not think I will be adding a lens because of close distance to screen (14')

During the movie I do not notice any light overspill as the wall is quite dark that the screen is on.

really, hmm..

now you got me thinking, cause thats just what mines is, 14', but mines is on the ceiling...

ive been reading here about getting a full screen shot without the 2 black lins on top and bottom.

see im building a frame on the wall, according to the image it has now. i dont have a screen, the wall itself give a great screen shot, ill just be painting it to get a brighter image.

i just wonder if i should wait for the lens before i build the frame, or not get it at all since its so close allready...

We projected on the wall for a month before buying the screen, to see what dimensions worked best for us. I'm not sure how great it is zooming if the projector is ceiling mounted (keystoning) but our set up is working great. Some mention when you zoom you obviously have the "Black bars" overshoot the screen area and it might be distracting. We have not had it distract us in the least, and I cannot image the image any sharper with using a lens.

Thanks.

This is the Quest line of seating from Lazboy. I don't think they carry the line anymore. The end seats are recliners, the middle section is a hide a bed. We attached a buttkicker to the middle section, but it can be felt throughout the entire couch.

With great gear and a picture/screen like that --- absolutely NO WAY would I ever get any "reading" done in that "library" !!!!

Thanks, I think the more difficult thing is trying to keep the wine racks full

Thanks Equusz, I hope for theater 2.0 I can do somehing similar to yours with the space you have. Your house looks great.

By the way, question for you (or anyone else who wants to chime in) how do I change the link in my signature to not be the "weblink" (http:// etc.) to just say "Bobier Library Theater" like yours says "The Log Cabin Theater"?

We seem to be similar in that we didn't have construction threads, just anouncement after the fact. Also, I've been 98% done for the last 9 months. Same thing on the rest of the basement which has been "done" for two years. I'm sure I'll get to the last details "one day".

Try something like this, change first part to your link and replace The log Cabin Theater Build with whatever name you want.

bscoggins4,

Trial post to see if new sig works.

Jason

Edit: Does not look like this is the trick. What am I doing wrong? Anyone?

Edit2: Figured out after a google search, which I should have done earlier. Thanks for the suggestion bscoggins4, it was just slightly off.

Also, thanks BigmouthDC, pprather, and GPowers for earlier comments. Much appreciated!

Your theater is a beautiful room by the way, looks great. I love the colours (I am a huge Edmonton Oiler fan, although that probably wasn't your intention!)
Yes, I had intended to do a thread, but with the father in law here on vacation for a month and with me working and doing the basement, time was limited. Should have took pictures along the way, but I'll change several things for theater build 2.0 including that. Thanks for the comments.

Jason.

We just have ceremonies on the site when things are completed, we don't actually start things up. Might hurt the stock price (speculation better than actual results)

When will we see the Damage Inc theater on here?

Jason.

Wow. Like others have said, your room has a very classy look to it. That's a hard thing to do without making people think "god, this guy must be loaded!" etc. I think you pulled it off rather nicely. Classy and very sleek but also reasonable and not ridiculous.

My setup? On here? Not for a bit. Pretty much functional and loving it. A few tweeks to go but will have to wait for winter.

Focusing on landscaping, fence and deck... and I thought HT stuff was expensive!
Glad to see you are finally getting some use out of my 875, lol. Very well done. A nice mix of comfort and cinema styling. I've been so busy, I haven't opened the door to my theater since December. Maybe looking at all the new pics will help me to justify setting aside the other projects and finishing mine.

I like the wall mounted wine rack next to the curtains? Any chance you remember purchase location?

Those are two racks put together, and I got them from Ikea. $14.95 ea. best bargain in the basement. I looked at some wine stores and similar racks were $50-$60 ea. I got so excited when I saw the Ikea ones I immediately bought 10. Still have to figure out where to put the rest.
