Monoprice Shipping

I've ordered from Monoprice several times, but I don't recall the shipping charges being as high as they are now. I guess it's to be expected due to gas prices, etc., but it seems very high. I added (2) HDMI 25' cables, (1) 25' Component, (2) 50' RG6 Coax Cables, 250' of 16AWG speaker cable, a Tilt Mount for a Plasma and (3) pairs of their 8 inch In Wall speakers for house audio. The total bill was around $345, but over $75 of that was shipping. ~22% of the final cost is shipping??. Has MP always been this pricey with shipping, or have they recently followed through with an increase in shipping charges?

That seems about right if you ask me; off the top of my head I would guess your total order would weight in at about 90lbs? Sounds about right with the current shipping rates if you ask me.

I don't recall my actual shipping amount, but it wasn't high enough to be alarming. I ordered about $200 worth of cables. With the speakers and the tilt mount, it sounds like it could be a fairly heavy shipment though.

The shipping weight was around 90lbs. Ok....sounds like it's on target. I guess I never really noticed as I typically ordered a few cables at a time, and not this much at once.

My buddy did just order $11 worth of cables and his shipping was almost $6. I guess at first glance, it seems high, but that's because anywhere else, those cables would cost $75 with $6 shipping, and wouldn't seem so high. Thanks guys, I feel a little better about the order. I was just concerned.

My recent 5.82 lb shipment traveled from Rancho Cucamonga Ca to Virginia for $9.95. I also had a mail envelope pouch last week for less than $2.

Your list sounds pretty heavy brother. I guess $45 of the $75 just for the wall mount and 250 ft of speaker wire.

Off topic, I know, but isn't it fun to say "Rancho Cucamonga" ??

Maybe when I start a build thread that's what I'll call it; "El Rancho Cucamonga" hopefully sponsored by MP!

Just remember how much you saved buying all that stuff from Monoprice! Would you say 40-50 percent?

I've always thought their shipping was pricey, but the cost savings of ordering through them still makes it a great deal.

I added the items you mentioned to the cart, and the speaker wire was about 20% of the shipping cost, and the speakers were over 50% (the box is pretty bulky, I just got a pair myself). Getting 3 probably necessitates separate shipping and increases the cost.

I'm guessing it's the distance as well - the total standard shipping charge came up at just over $40 for me.

At work we order about $400 worth of stuff at a time, one time it was 45 of the 44lb projector mounts, another time it was $500 in 50ft vga cables. The shipping was a lot. but then again, it came in 6 boxes, each had about 20lbs-30lbs on them. So I think it is just cause of the sheer amount of weight in the order.
