Except for QT you guys are 3 months late.

Try again when they tell you about Planet Terror or TWBA.
Thanks for the update on Hell Ride though.

No, I posted about some of those previously, I'm just releasing the most up to date list of upcoming titles. It's not like we just found out about The Mist or 1408, etc.

I got ya now.

So when can we expect those other titles to be added later? Grindhouse, Grindhouse.

There will be movies released monthly, so there's still November or December for Grindhouse haha.

I want Hard Boiled and The Killer on Blu in addition to all QT titles. And I want them now!
I wonder if they're saving Grindhouse for a domestic release of the whole movie alongside a new DVD. I hope they don't stick us with separate releases of Planet Terror and Death Proof (unless they're part of a big set with everything like the Japanese release).
I wonder if, since they released on hd dvd before, if they will keep the region free policy, can anyone shed some light o n that one?
All the former HD DVD exclusives seem to maintain their all-region status (Universal and Paramount discs have been confirmed all-region in US and UK players), so I would expect Weinstein to follow suit.

Amen, brother. The total is certainly better than the sum of the parts. I want the U.S. theatrical version with all the previews, intermission, and lost reels.

Curious to see how well these sell and if Weinstein will once again takes its toys and go home if people are not buying their titles. Or if they continue with the 3-4 week 'delay' when the DVD and Blu-ray hits.

Everything on HD DVD was region free....everything. Blu-ray has regions and some studios follow it...some don't. Some only for day and dates, some only for catalog. What they did in the HD DVD days for region coding means nothing since there was no such thing.

If it's any indication Amazon Germany has been taking pre orders for the separate Planet Terror and Death Proof blu's for awhile now supposedly to be released at the end of the year. I just ordered that big box Japanese set (6 discs) last night so that will satisfy me and will look just as good upconverted well on my LG Combo player.

I think Hellride is day and date with the DVD.

But that they released on HD DVD at all shows that region coding isn't (wasn't) important to them...

And all other former HD DVD studios that have already releases out or anounced on Blu-ray still don't use region coding. So I think our chances are very good Weinstein will do the same.

No Lucky # Slevin?

Pretty much all of Weinstein's HD DVDs were very poor sellers (as in, some only sold a couple hundred units), so I think they're hedging their bets by sticking to more recent titles.

By the way, your info is wrong on The Mist, it's coming August 5th:
From Highdefdigest.com

With the launch of the their first Blu-ray titles only a month away, the Weinstein Co. has issued a first look at the cover art for 'The Mist' and '1408.'

As first announced last month, Frank Darabont's 'The Mist' will mark the Weinsteins' first Blu-ray release of a theatrical title when it hits stores on August 5. The studio will then follow it up with another hit Stephen King adaptation '1408,' due a little over a month later on September 16.

Tech specs see both 'The Mist' and '1408' receiving BD-50 dual-layer presentations (with 'The Mist' also a two-disc set), with 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround audio.

Extras will mirror the previous DVD editions, with both films presented in unrated versions and brimming with extras including audio commentary, featurettes, deleted scenes, and more.

Finally, the Weinstein Co. had revealed the final high-res box art for both releases.

As previously reported, suggested list price for the double-disc 'The Mist ' has been set at $34.98, and $29.98 for the single-disc '1408.'

HighDefDigest has the tendency of posting news a day or two (or more) late, and then not following up on news stories as they develop. According to blu-news, releaselists.com, and even Amazon, The Mist is coming September 16th.

Blu-News says his Weinstein contact initially gave him August 5th for a date, but later told him it was pushed back to September 16th. Whether this is legit is obviously up in the air, but the majority of evidence points towards September 16th being the real release date.

Oh, man - where is the Blu of the remastered "Night of the Living Dead"? Its being released in the UK on 15th September. Why for pete's sake aren't the Weinsteins tying it to Diary of the Dead for release?

I hope the exact opposite...i wanted to slit my throat watching the first 40 minutes of Planet Terror. Death Proof, however, is one of my top 10 favorite movies of all time.

Actually Halloween was a box office and dvd success. I'm looking forward to the blu-ray.

Update: Sorry, I misread your post. You were talking HD DVD sales. My bust.

Dude!

Planet Terror is a MASTERPIECE!!

But I guess you really must be into the kind of movies it´s celebrating to love it as much as I do

I hope we get a boxset on BD with the full theatrical double feature experience AND the extended editions.
I'm fine with just the extended editions on Blu-ray with one caveat: They have to include the trailers this time.

Amen! Those were hilarious--especially Eli Roth's Thanksgiving trailer. Those should be mandatory for any BD release.

Off Topic: Planet Terror was so much more of a grindhouse movie than the insipid dialog-laden Death Proof. Don't get me wrong, I like QT's movies, but not one is original. He just takes elements from the movies he enjoys watching. Some of us actually have seen a lot of grindhouse and '70s kung fu/samurai. Hell, I can't get enough Zatoichi (excluding what Beat Takeshi did to the franchise) and Lone Wolf and Cub.

What audio are they using? I seriously doubt they are continuing w/ DD+.
