Heroes Season 3 on NBCHD - Page 2

Okay, the title of this thread is Heroes Season 3, so I guess we've done enough griping about Season 2. The season premiere had it's first public showing this morning at Comic-Con, and James Hibberd of the Hollywood Reporter has a report:

http://www.thrfeed.com/2008/07/kring-unveils-h.html

Aint it Cool also had an article that basically is just quotes from Hibberd's, but it has a few reader submitted spoilers as well, but they are inviso-texted:

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/37660

There is also info about the Season 2 DVD in there.

Oh, I suspect there will be a lot more griping about S-2 before S-3 debuts. Not every regular participant in the thread has gotten their shots in yet.

I'm sure you're right, but my point is that this is the Season 3 thread, there is a season 2 thread somewhere in here that is the proper place for moaning and complaining about how bad S2 was.

I wouldn't agree with that either. For all intents and purposes, the S2 thread is a corpse. Now if there was some really interesting news and information about S3, things would be different. But as far as I'm aware, there really isn't much of that yet, even though S3 is slated to start in less than a couple of months. So that pretty much leaves only about 3 basic areas of discussion here, 1) Why people didn't like S2 and what they'd like to see changed; 2) People who thought S2 was much better than most of the others did; and 3) Those who can't wait to see it again, no matter what their opinions as to 1 or 2.

Now there really isn't much to say about #3. Whether someone can or can't wait is of no value, unless they're threatening suicide. And because this thread was commenced way before there was much substantive news or info to talk about, it really isn't about S3 yet either. If no one had started this thread until S3 was right around the corner, and the only other thing we had was the S2 thread, your point would be more valid. But that's not the case here, is it?

Wow, I forgot how much of an ass you are on these forums. You only take pleasure in insulting someone else if they don't agree with you.

I already stated what I liked about Season 2. Thought it was excellent. Not as good as 1, but still an excellent show (except for the wonder twins, ugh, hated that part).

I was at Comic Con and they showed us at the Heroes panel the first ep of Season 3. Without giving anything away, most of it was awesome. Really great stuff.

As long as you like time travel and wildly convoluted plot lines.

Really, after reading the spoilers on various sites, it looks like they're trying to avoid last year's boring episodes by instead throwing in too much information.

I can guarantee anyone not already a fan will be utterly confused.

From the spoilers I've read it sure sounds like it is going to be an incredible start to the season.

Time Travel in Heroes has always been strange, but what can you do?

As to your last line, I can't imagine they are trying to bring in new fans. They seem focused on bringing back fans who might have tuned out in Season 2.

I should also say that we saw the ep in HD, and it looked great.

As to the ep itself, there are some strange things, and it's only the first hour of a two-parter, but it looked interesting enough. That's not to say that show is going to have a miraculous recovery. Regardless of buzz, or lack thereof, Heroes is hanging by a thread. Low ratings the first couple of weeks for Season 3 could mean cancellation.

If they pollute the screen, I'll just wait for the DVD/BD release.

That's my biggest worry with season 3. That goes for all other NBC shows I watch like Chuck, Life, Earl and possibly the new Christian Slater show too.

If they have "YOU'RE WATCHING HEROES ON NBC! NEXT SOMETHING ELSE! NEW EPISODE OF SO YOU THINK YOU CAN BAKE A CELEBRITY CAKE WEDNESDAY 8PM!" onscreen all the way through I'll be hitting the channel button.

Looking forward to black eyes being hopefully shoved in the background and more Kristen Bell but I can't remember exactly what happened to anyone else.

Well, to give the devil its due, as much as I hated S2, I would recommend that anyone who intends to continue watching this program should rent and view the extras on Disc 4 of S2 from Netflix or Blockbuster, before the new season starts. Assuming it isn't entirely revisionist history (which is always possible ), the 18 minute alternate ending and commentaries tie enough of the major themes (yes, apparently there actually were themes, despite evidence to the contrary) together to suggest that while it wouldn't be the break-out that S1 was, it also wouldn't be the cuisinart of garbage that crashed and burned on our displays in S2, and (get ready) it had a decent shot at being pretty good if executed properly.

It has convinced me that in retrospect, despite the commercial concerns, they should have just pulled the plug a few episodes earlier and started fresh with some of the ideas they were kicking around.

Oh please, as if someone would want to rent anything associated with S2. Here's hoping that they get back on track with S3.

I have a question....

On disc 4 of the BluRay what were those lost stories that featured Elle trying to catch Syler and him killing new characters with powers left and right ??

I'd assume it was footage already shot by a 2d crew in preparation for the writer's strike. Most likely it was one of the alternate futures, which was clearly much more interesting than the incredibly boring asian Kensai sequences, and the wonder twins introduction sections. What a shame. Next time they shouldn't put the cart before the horse.

Just in case my WAG is correct...

Wonder what would happen if Peter was the shooter, came back in time to kill his brother before he could reveal too much.

Not based on anything other than just how much this would really make things interesting if it happened to be right.

What? Was the licensing fees for 'A Sound of Thunder' moniker too expensive?

Those are some wicked special effects for a standard TV program!

Nice to see the gore level back again too. The production level on this opener is excellent so far. I love the sound design tonight as well. Great surround mix, especially when Sylar was hunting for Claire and the clocks were ticking.

Checking, the last segment was a stuttering mess on my local station. Was it a local issue, or did anyone/everyone get the stutters during the last segment. It was perfect up until the last scene. arrggghhh
post #52 of 2358
nope, stutters must have been local for you.

I was watching Heroes via OTA HD, and I noticed a white line on the far left side of the screen, running from top to bottom. Anyone else see this? I'm wondering if it was a broadcast artifact.

Watching on a Toshiba 40XF550 set to "native" picture size.

It's always on NBC (and other channels) at the full resolution view.

That was a pretty good opener. They were not kidding when they said it would hit the ground running this season. Unfortunately like speedy girl, a lot of it was a big blur to me. I couldn't remember what happened last year and I could barely keep track of who was doing what and why this episode. So many plot lines dropped in.

Overall, with some very funny scenes with Ando and Hiro, Sylar getting some brain time with Claire, Kristen Bell getting electric, "Do you know Britney Spears?", the return of Linderman, SFX powers going off in almost every scene ... there was plenty of good stuff to chew on that outweighed the less than good. More precisely Mohinder and his 4400 serum.

Don't forget to check out Greg Beeman's blog for production notes and the missing Sylar/Mr Muggles face-off.

Did they establish that she spoke such good, relatively unaccented English in S2?
