Please take a look and PM me any corrections.

By the way, how does this thread compare to this link?

This chart is easier to read because of the feature being in the block of color and not just at the top. It also tells about streaming capabilities.

Time to add DSD and DVD-Audio to the matrix since the Oppo will support them. Kinda makes the rest look bad (not a bad thing).
could you please update the chart with the LG BD300

Interesting that chart indicates the Pioneer 05FD will decide DTS MA but the 51FD does not? They are both the same player with the exception of the video proc and chasis.

Thanks for adding SACD and DVD-Audio. Nice to see the no in red for all the existing players (except the early PS3s from Sony for SACD playback albeit with LPCM output).

Where is the current comparison chart? It's not the chart that's on page 1 of this thread, is it?

Audio decoding question. I have my samsung 1400 connected to my Halo C2 processor via Digital toslink. I have the 1400 sending bitstream. One thing I noticed, is I will not be able to decode True HD becasue the signal is not sent via digital.

Is this correct and do you need a processor that decodes the new audio formats??
Thanks

Like AVS, Blu-ray.com is an AV enthusiast-based site so take everything with a grain of salt. Currently both the 51 and 05 do not decode MA. The update is scheduled for Jan 09 or Feb 09, depending on which website article you believe.

That chart also has the post processor as being identical for the 05 and the 09, which is not true. Only the 09 will have Marvell's Qdeo.

For the 1,000,000 time on any bluray player forum, the new high resolution audio formats only bit-stream over HDMI.

High resolution audio formats include DD+, TrueHD, DTS HR, DTS MA, multi-channel PCM.

Without a HDMI AVR, no digital form of high resolution audio formats can be heard. Multi-channel high resolution analog decoding is possible with certain Bluray players (see chart on post 1).

Same question. This thread is getting confusing having multiple charts.

Google Docs.

OP, please add a link to the Google Docs in the OP.

Here is the post that explains the new docs location: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...3#post15017523

Thanks. Didn't think that was the most updated version because it doesn't include players such as Panny 35/55, new LG 300, etc.

Sure does... You must not have read the posts pertaining to that chart.

Try sheet 2.....

I think I'm a little dense as I don't see a sheet 2.

Edit: I see it now. You have to click on appended and sorted, right?

Edit: The Sony BDP-S550 availability should be listed as "now".

Shouldn't the Panasonic DMP-BD 35 be listed as "complete" all the way across?

Yes, the BD 35 should be "complete" across.
Yes the DMP-BD 35 is complete and I love this player. Replaces the PS3
post #319 of 662
I corrected the Panasonic DMP-BD35 line in the GoogleDocs version. I've also updated the availability of the Sony BDP-S550.

As others have noted, I left the original chart as the first worksheet and am only making changes on the second. I'm logging those changes on the third worksheet.

If you are talking about Panasonic BD55, it is on the new audio support spreadsheet.

Either you are blind or you refuse to read the last 10-15 posts.

Thanks SUOrangeman for your updates.......

Speaking solely for the Denon 3800 and Marantz 8002 (don't know about the 2500), the "L" designation under HDMI (PCM) should be further clarified. It should say that the LFE channel will have 5dB less than the other channels when any speakers have been set to SMALL. This 5dB deficiency will not be there if all speakers are LARGE or if Source Direct is ON.

The Denon 3800/Marantz 8002 is unique in that this known analog limitation has carried over into the digital realm because of how much flexibility these machines have provided in audio.

Also, the Denon 2500 and 3800 should probably read (L,LF) since there was an LFE bug but this has been corrected by latest firmware. Don't know if the Marantz debut with this bug as the owner's thread hasn't been very informative.

I can do it. I think the only issue is it would be a link on the first post as opposed to a chart.

I think the easiest thing is for me to post the latest chart but new announcements are getting ahead of me. Who wants to work with me for about 30min or so over the phone and get this chart updated with me?

I can't see neither BD35 nor BD55 there.
I mean I looked at list at 2 spreadsheats

here
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1050507
and here
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=980672

and none of them have latest Pannys included.

Could somebody kindly post the link to the chart with them included?

At the bottom of the Google docs chart, click where it says "appended and sorted".

What is "google docs chart" ? The chart appears as png image in the first post of the thread. Filename "bdchart.png". There is no any interaction in it.
