I miss the days of using IRC. I wanted to know if anyone here still uses it.

I miss them too.

I'd love to know of some HTPC-related chat rooms.

I think Metric's point was that you probably won't find one that can compare to this forum.

That's actually just an old friendly IRC saying; probably just being nostalgic. IRC is a totally different type of collaboration arena; apples and oranges.

Oh I'm well aware of the IRC arena. Proud survivor of the dalnet bot wars here (many moons ago). I haven't used IRC in a couple of years though.

I too would be interested in knowing if there is a good HTPC channel out there. If not, maybe we could start one.

I do
And a good HTPC channel would be great

I loved the old days of IRC. It's the only place I have ever really chatted other than using Gmail's chat feature now. Time to dig out an old copy of mIRC and see which of my old stomping ground channels are still alive!

I like to revive old topics (sorry), but really would be sweet to get an active irc channel going for AVS, well AVS HTPC anyway. If it was actually somewhat active think about how much help it could be if you just have a quick question or just wana BS when your bored. I am on Mirc everyday anyway for my games and stuff so it would be easy to add another perform .

I forgot about this thread. Yeah, from time to time I do get nostalgic thinking of old times as a kid and a young adult when I collaborated on IRC chatrooms... The last chatroom I belonged to was the DVD channel which had the creator of Zoomplayer join in... I cant remember the name.

Wow... brings back a lot of memories.

I remember having a chat with some one that was working on a little program he wanted me to try out. Something to do with messaging.

Anyway, I obliged and tried the software out. It was a great little application but I didn't use it for long as there weren't many other people using it at the time. It eventually picked in popularity. It was called ICQ!

I hate bringing back a thread from the dead (Thread Necromancer) but I figure it’s better than starting a new one. I wanted to ask if AVS has an IRC channel but I’m assuming from the last dates on this thread the answer is no :/ And yes I still use IRC mainly from Mon to Fri on freenode IRC network. I mainly hang on #anythingbutipod, #iaudiophile and #rockbox but frequent other channels on occasion.

Edit: BTW this is definitely the wrong forum for this thread, I could see it in the Forum Operations Center
