Considering a 25 to 30 foot run of FLAT HDMI cable under carpeting to connect my Blu-ray/03 to the TV. Anyone have any opinions or ideas?

Thanks
Monoprice sells Premium 24AWG Flat Type HDMI Cable with lengths up to 35 feet long. That would probably be your best bang for the buck.

For what it's worth I ran flat speaker wire under my wall to wall carpet from my AV receiver to my rear speakers and you can hardly see any bulge in the carpeting. The installer used one of those snakes for wiring the wall to push the flat speaker wire under my carpet's padding from one side of my living room to the other.

The HDMI connector in the '01 is rather flimsy. If the connection isn't made well there is a possibility of a momentary dropout. This gets amplified by an HDCP re-handshake and that could take a couple of seconds. Try re-inserting your cables and position them so they don't move. It took me a bit of frustrating jiggling to get it to connect and stay connected. A few others have had the same issue, corrected by a cable re-insert. Good luck.

Thanks.

BTW - I just updated the software and the remote firmware through the GUI and VSX-01/VSX-03 is still not there. They have a VSX-D3 (d, not 0), but this does not match the 03's functions...

I have a Harmony 550/VSX-01 combo & I had to get Logitech support to add the specific commands that were missing to my account. I'm not sure why they didn't just add the missing commands to the database for everyone, but they did get me access to the commands that I requested the next day. E-mail their support with a list of the commands that you want added and they should add them to your account.

He's not missing commands, he's missing the Receiver altogether.

Whenever I'm missing commands, I just learn them to the Harmony. Takes a lot less time than a phone call.

Thanks, yes, that's what I did, as well as, turn the cable box off and restart it.. It was just frustrating that everything worked great until today when I was trying to watch cable.. I was like WTF... Thanks again for your response..

I win the Darwin award... I entered VSX-03 and nothing came up. When I entered "VSX-03TXH" it worked perfectly...feeling pretty boneheaded right now.

Not your fault. Usually with computers, less is more. I might have done the same.

Am i doing something wrong? I have my Elite DV-48AV hookup up to my VSX 03 TXH throught an HDMI input and i can't figure out how to get my multichannel sacd's to play in 5.1 everything else works which includes my dvd audios through the same player, bd's on my ps3, and tv programing through direct tv. On the receiver display it only shows 2 speakers lit up no matter what setting i select with a sacd in the player. Thank for any advice you can give me.

Someone gave you a whole list of references in another thread. Briefly, though, if all you want to do is verify that MCACC balanced your system correctly, the receiver's test tones will be fine. The 03 will set them at the appropriate level, ~ 75dB.

There are lots of other things to play with, but most of them are covered in detail in references you were supplied. Many of them require using test tones from a different source, either a commercial disc or downloads, depending upon what you want to accomplish.

Hey guys, I spoke with "Will" over at Videogon. He says he's an authorized dealer. Does anyone have more information about him or his business? Is he reliable? Anyone with good or bad experiences dealing with him?

Thanks!

Probably 25% of the people in this thread bought from Will. Do a search on videogon or Will and you'll find hundreds of posts. Yes, he's legit and is easy to work with.

edit: actually you can't search on Will, because it's too common of a word, but you get the idea.

So the Pioneer warranty will be valid and honored if we buy from him? I spoke to him today actually and he wants $550 with shipping for the 03.
Yes. He has a retail store.

I bought my 03 from Will about two weeks ago. Great service no complaints here. Would deal with him again anytime

What are the differences between the Elite 03 and 01? I looked at Pioneer's website and really couldn't see much of a difference.

I think the main difference is that 03 has jitter reduction. Will's cool.

I was one of the first to buy from him on Videogon. Nothing but good to say. They are an authorized dealer, but not an authorized internet dealer.

Technically, they aren't selling via the internet. Just advertising.

Ordered my VSX-01 through "Will" today. Was a little hesitant at first, asking him a whole bunch of questions that I'm pretty sure that he's heard hundreds of times before, like "why are you so cheap", "what's the warranty" etc.

ANyways, I ended up with the 01 because I didn't see the need for the extra stuff (like jitter reduction - what's that exactly?) on the 03 eventhough it's only slightly more. Can't wait to get it in and hook it up to my Quintet SLs.
