Now they're all working for HBO?

That was actually George RR Martin himself who talked that trash.

I am actually glad to hear this is the last season. I was on the fence on continuing and now I will stick it out.

the Charlaine Harris novels from which the show is based also abruptly ended recently with the final book 'Dead Ever After'...
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
in case anyone was interested, in the final book Sookie ends up with Sam...I think that makes the most sense and hope the show decides to go this way as well

Knowing that it's ending, I will also stick with it just to see how they end it.  Had they kept going, I would have stopped watching until the end was announced.

As to your description of the endings of the book, I don't think anything makes sense in the tv show so ending like the book doesn't make any more sense than anything else. The Sookie character in the show is far removed from the Harris character.

the new showrunner did hint at bringing the focus back to Bon Temps (and maybe the book origins?)...

they also did a good job of hinting at the Sam/Sookie relationship during Season 1 of the show so it would be a great way to end the final season by going back to that...especially since they've barely shared any storyline since then

Season 1 of the show is the only season that had anything to do with the books. I'm not sayin your speculatin isn't correct. I'm just sayin that anything they do is going to be as random as anything else. Also, that topic was somewhat breached this last season as well. Not exactly subtle-like either.

Sookie gets around with all the supernaturals, doesn't she?

+1

Like Dexter, it had a good run, but it's time to close shop.

Yup. In the books she has an affair with a weretiger. The reason is spelled out quickly in the books and was also in the series. Her telepathy makes it pretty impossible to be with normal humans.
She can't read vampires and the two-natured are harder for her to read.

And they bought the rights to the Channel 4 UK series "Utopia." Let's see how they ruin it. One thing I bet is the HBO version won't be 2:35:1 like the UK version. Supposedly David Fincher may be involved in the remake.

I would trust HBO to get it right over all other channels...they've had a lot more hits then misses- The Wire, Rome, Carnivale (very underrated show), Sopranos, Deadwood, Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones etc

I think Mad Men and Breaking Bad were both pitched to HBO and passed on.

Too bad they didn't continue making Rome. They cut it because of budget but they're spending more on Game of Thrones these days.

They even admitted that they screwed up that one. They didn't factor in the DVD sales.

didn't know where to post this but it fits in this thread best...HBO is known for their groundbreaking original series but they are also known for their explicit sexual content...here's a hilarious video showing “actors” describing their upcoming HBO roles to their loved ones...it's called 'It's not Porn'...warning: some bad language...
