Pros/cons Of This Sub???!!!!!

I am about to upgrade my sub, which at the moment wouldn't be hard to surpass - its some Sansui with a 10" sub but anyways....

I have a pair of AAD C800i's as my front speakers.

I am not looking for information on other subs just PROS/CONS of the AAD C11 which is BRAND NEW.

http://www.aadsound.com/products/subwoofers/C11.htm

What is a reasonable price for this sub up for auction, RRP $1395 (AU) which is about $1350 (USD).

The current bid for this sub is $128 and the Auction finishes in 72 hours.

Any feed-back regarding this would be usefull. I use my audio setup for about 50/50 ht/music. Is the stated response (30-160) too low for a sub this price or is it not a factor, in other words a less expensive sub that states it can go down to 20hz has probably been rated differently? Or would the cheaper sub just be inferior quality?

Is there any point buying a sub that can't reproduce down to 20hz?

Cheers

160 watts rms seems very low for the money they want. I've never heard of the sub maker so I can't comment on sq.
What other options do you have?

Did you notice the equalizer on the AAD C11? Never seen this before are they beneficial?

My other options:

Dream Acoustics:

This Yamaha:

This JBL:

Pure Acoustics:

Bear in mind that although the $USD/AU are almost equal value, things are still a lot cheaper in U.S than Oz.

Well it should be good for music but it only goes down to 30hz so you might find it weak while watching movies. I would google it also and try and find some independant reviews because I never heard of this brand.

there is someone on this Forum who wanted a really good sub (or two). I think he made arrangements with AV123 to get one or two MFW-15's shipped to South Africa.

I would contact AV123 and find out about shipping the MFW-15 to Australia. The MFW-15 is better than those you have listed. In my humble opinion.

I realize you wanted to keep it to something readily available to you in Australia, however, sometimes it is better to save up for another couple of months and buy something that has a well established reputation.

Thanks for your replies, am currently looking at above-mentioned alternatives and their shipping cost to Oz. Will let ya's know how much it'd be to get em down here...

I don't find any pricing, but have you looked into the SuBsonic subs? They are made in Oz.

The prices are much higher than in the US, but also look into the SVS subs at DeepHzAudio.

Some people have had very good success with graphic equalizers for subs, but most of the time they don't have enough bands in the low FR to be usable. Parametric equalizers are usually preferred. This has 5 bands over 2 octaves from 100 down to 25 and should be good enough to dial in a sub.

This is a nice looking sub, but at 10" and 160 Watts, I don't believe it will provide the SPL levels most are looking for in HT. This is another of the gazillion subs most have never heard of.
