I have a Comcast/ Motorola DCH-3416 HD DVR cable box, a Samsung HLT 5076 DLP TV, a Samsung P1500 Bluray player and Infinitty TSS 1200 speakers (5.1). All equipment is less than a year old and connected to my HK 354 via quality HDMI 1.3 cables. I've been playing with the system for a few days and the problems I am having are as follows:
2. When I change from a high definition to a standard definition channel the screen momentarily goes green, then the picture reappears but is distorted with green lines going through the top half of the picture. When I change from a standard definition to a high definition channel I get sound only but no image. The only way to fix this is to turn the cable box off then back on. Since all of my equipment is HD and my television already upscales I have turned the video processing off on the 354 but I'm still having the problem.
I'm having a similar problem when switching from an SD to HD source or vice versa. When I switch from an SD to SD or from an HD to HD channel there's no problem, it's all happening when I'm switching resolutions.
It happens on a totally random basis...sometimes I can switch back and forth with no problem, but when it does act up I'm seeing the green screen with a scrambled digitized image on the top some of the time, while other times I see the default blue screen which symbolizes no connection...I hear the audio but I see a "mode not supported" error.
What I'm doing to (temporarily) bypass the problem, other than turning it off, is selecting the return to last channel...some times it fixes it the first time, other times it takes 5 or 6 times of switching back and forth before it correctly processes the picture.
I'm also noticing excessive ghosting in dark and very dark scenes that was definitely not there on my Sammy before the 254. Has anyone else noticed this?
This is obviously quite abnormal.
Love the sound and would hate to have to return it but the unit seems to be dysfunctional.
