The Official Pioneer 9G Kuro Settings/Issues Thread - Page 84

Hi. We watched Transformers on our 111FD last night, and I have a question about the picture.
Flesh tones seemed to have a super-tanned look, very vivid. Odd thing is, it wasn't on all faces or at all times. Some scenes with more than one person in it at times had one person with the look and the other person without it. In all scenes with Jon Voight, he was spot-on correct. The Transformers also looked great.

any thoughts?

thanks

Soon-to-be Kuro owner here ...

Is there a way to lock in picture settings so that meddling in-laws/parents can't mess them up?

Thanks!

Yes, activate (with ControlCAL) and use the ISFccc Interface on the Eliltes.. Those memories are locked and would require your family member(s) to use ControlCAL to make any changes.. <---- one of the benefits of the ISFccc Interface IMO since my teenager (and the friends) like to fool around with the settings..

Quick question, there are some who have the 3DYC controls set at 0 in the ISF modes and others like yourself who set it at 2(mid)

What exactly is the purpose of that setting (3DYC) and/or how does it effect the picture?

i wan to see those game mode settings! i have a pro-111

Thanks in advance!

are you using D-nice pure mode settings? or what settings are you using on your pro-111?

Reminder....

You cannot apply settings from one mode to another mode....especially the ISFccc modes.

I read the earlier post "Understanding the Pioneer 9G IFSccc interface" from Calibration Forums so I'm onboard with your answer. I guess what I'm trying to figure out is what changes occur, OUTSIDE THE PROFESSIONAL CALIBRATOR"S CONTROL, when going from one mode to another ? And more specifically from calibrated PURE to calibrated IFSccc ?

Thanks, Scotty

Pioneer created Pure mode separate from the ISFccc modes. They are visually and measurably different. I don't really know how to explain it beyond that.

D75 isn't going to look brighter...it will look bluer.

It's true, gus, that the website doesn't help with "how-to" questions, and the forum Q&A format is not an especially efficient or effective way to present directions. Now that ControlCAL is getting lots more converts, I'm hoping the turbe will write up a nice, thorough "Instructions" section for the ControlCAL website; not just another link that boots you to the forum. (You read that, right, turbe? )

How about THIS?

This Link is in the Activation Email too (under: -----------> DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START? - Setup/Installation and Step-by-Step Instructions to activate an ISF Memory)..

I need to link to it from the main ControlCAL Thread..

New 111-FD owner here. Love it so far. Right now I'm doing the break in by watching in regular PURE mode (no sidebard shows) and the break in DVD when I'm not at home. Is this OK??

Another question, I plan to have it calibrated when I find someone that can come to Knoxville, but until then, what it everyone's opinion on the best way/settings to watch sports games on?

Can any confirm default "standard" mode contrast and brightness levels.

TIA

BTW, these settings are ONLY for 111FDs. There will not be 151FD settings for Game and Performance (well, not from me).

Bummer!

I was hoping for a "parental lock" kinda option to lock in the settings. Oh well. Thanks, turbe!

I have had my 151 for about a month and everything has looked great. In anticipation of Jeff Meier coming in January to calibrate my panel, I wanted to put more hours on so began running the break in slides from a thumb drive. Things seemed fine until it came to the red slides. On each there was a vertical black line roughly in the middle of the screen from left to right and going from the bottom to about half way up. It was on each of the red slides, but not on others. Do I have a problem?

You could go this route but there is some maintenance involved.... I suggest a pair since we are talking about a Kuro..
Does calibrating the ISF Day/Night modes on the Elites affect the numbers on the other picture modes? Or are the settings for ISF independent from the preset modes?
ISF Day and Night settings do not affect the other modes.
