The Official Pioneer 9G Kuro Settings/Issues Thread - Page 18

Silly question, but what menu do I find these settings under?

Screen Size: Full
Power Save Mode: Off
Orbiter: Mode 1
Screen size: Full - remote screen size button is easiest
power save mode: Off - power controls
orbiter: Mode 1 - options choice
Hoping someone can help me with this.
I have a new 6020, and I have had a 5050 before so I am somewhat familiar with Pioneer. I set it to the reference setting at the beginning of the thread - it is new so has not had a break in yet.

I also have a Panasonic PZ85U with Tom Huffman's settings:
Cinema Mode, Pic 80, Bright 42, Color 35, Tint -2, Sharp 0, Color Temp warm, and Black Level light.

These two sets using the same cable box hdmi HD output don't look at all the same. Are my colors and brightness set way too high on the Panny because the 6020 looks very low color with very little flesh tones on any people?

Hopefully someone can help out a newb.

Question about D-Nice's ref settings vs Ultimate AV settings. Both were calibrated to 6500K, but when you compare the settings, they appear a lot different. Are individual sets that different, and/or does your viewing environment make that much of a difference? Or are they just calibrating to 6500K by two different routes to get to the same goal (i.e. adjust main color and tint settings one way, so the color detail/temp or Color Management settings have to be set a certain way to get to 6500K)

Here are the big differences:
Color: D=+2; UltAv = +9 (that seems like a big diff)
Tint: D = 0, UltAV = G4
R High: D = +1, UltAv = -6
B High: D = +4, UltAv = 0
Color Management: D = -2, +1, -4, -2, 0, -1 for the six; UltAV = all 0s

On anyone's specific set, if they were to implement either settings, will they get the same picture?
No, D-Nice's settings are probably much better (as they are more, but not close to exact, in accordance with other reference settings I know of), but ULTav obviously didn't need to touch the CMS (due to CS2 accuracy)

Looks great on my 151. If you have a 151, give these settings a try. I was pleasantly surprised!

here are my setting for a European 5090H after 50 hrs of the breakin dvd.

after turning off ALL Enhancers in Movie mode:

Kon = 38
Bri =+1
Color = +3

CMS = no changes but use Color Space 2
Red-High = -5

Amazing little needed changing.

I'm running gamma at slightly less then 2.2. If kontrast is set to 39 and briteness to 0 i get a nice 2.2 gamma.

I'll try and tweak with CMS afdter 150 Hrs.

d-nice:

question - when you do your calibration do you it as follows:

brightness
contrast
grey scale
color
tint
cms

then, do you go back to do the grey scale again becaue you changed the cms or do you stop.

thank you

Contrast
Brightness
Grayscale
CMS
Re-check Grayscale
Re-check CMS
Color

I don't mess with the tint control.

I know. I just couldn't wait to play with the measuring equipment

Pioneer techie has offered a panel switch after they saw how badly mine is blotched. Called it borderline. So I'll have to rerun breakin.

Pardon my ignorance. I have a PRO-151FD on its way to the house. Does this mean I need to plug the thumb drive in and let the plasma run continuously for about a week (150 hours) without doing anything else with it? Will it automatically slide-show through the images and will they be full-screen? What is the non-jpg file in the list for the thumb drive?
ignore my question about the other file....it was a winzip thing...

The other questions are still valid...

It's a personal choice. You can if you want, you don't have to if you don't want. If you don't make sure you DO NOT use the break-in settings provided from D-Nice. Those are only for viewing the images meant for breaking in.

Ditto.

So is this the only setting for the 5020? I didn't know if you had different setting suggestions for bluray vs tv etc.

Hi all,

I just finished breaking in my 151-fd elite using d-nice settings and dvd.I hooked my vip 722 receiver and using d-nice settings to watch my hd cable.I had a samsung led 52" lcd earlier which i sold for kuro and kuro blows it away.Even my wife who fought with me not ot sell it says this tv is awsome.I love this set.Damn good.

Just one thought though.I feel whites are not as good as my samsung.Even my wife is telling this.Whites appear very very dull to me especially on a fullwhite screen. Is this the trade off for plasma with lcd?The whites are the only thing (on a full white screen)which is bothering me

Also can anyone let me know how to set my vip 722 receiver remote to use for kuro. When the dish installer came last year he programmed dish receiver so that the switch on , off and volume controls of my samsung tv, i was able to do using dish receiver. Now since i changed the tv my dish remote is not working for this tv anymore.Any suggestions please

The Dish manual will have the tv codes and instructions on how to set them. The new Pio's will not be there, try the various Pioneer codes till you find one that works, codes are usually carried forward.

Where did you order it from? What type of content does it have on it?
I'm interested, too! Where'd you get the demo disc?
When you hit play...did it buzz and display blotches? JUST KIDDING!!!
It is a disk that Pioneer uses to promote there TV's. and I see why. It has various things on it to show off the black levels. nightime firworks kind of stuff, flowers, women is colourful dresses, solar system stuff, explanations of a couple of features on the tv. pretty sweet disk In my opinion. it has some classical music that goes along with it so u can have this disk running to show off the set while it plays the music.
