I wish I could answer that... I'm slowly trying to build a decent Music/HT setup but my knowledge and experience are very limited. Wouldn't know how to describe the acoustics in my room.
I can tell you that it is that I live in an apartment and my modest setup is in my 3000 cubic feet living room. My listening habits are 50% music, 20% games, and 30% movies. I usually listen at moderate levels, with the occasional louder demo.
I currently have an Onkyo 904 5.1 HITB and a PS3, but am considering upgrading to an Onkyo 706 receiver, a Hsu/Emotiva/Epik/SVS small subwoofer and Monitor Audio RS6-RLC or Aperion 5T and 5C for front stage speakers. I will be using the Onkyo onwall satellites just for 7.1 surround purposes.
2EQ made a huge difference in SQ in my room vs. no EQ. But bass still sounds quite boomy, probably due to the lack of sub EQ + el cheapo Onkyo sub that I have.
Is this information useful to get a more precise advice?
