Garmin Nuvi playing music...

I saw that some of the Nuvis have a headphone jack. Could I hook it up to my car's cassette player with a cassette adapter, and play music on the GPS through my car speakers? And perhaps the voice navigation?

If anyone does this, does this give acceptable sound for a non-audiophile?

Yes, you can use the jack to connect directly to your car stereo. If your Nuvi plays MP3's you can then hear your music and navigation through your stereo. It works quite nicely. Here's a link to a discussion regarding this http://www.poi-factory.com/node/12956.

Awesome, thanks. I have one other question though. Do SDHC cards work with the 360? 4GB, 8GB?

I have a 660, which is essentially he same thing as the 360. I have a 16GB SDHC card, which works fine. My only warning is that the Garmin will only recognize the first 1,000 songs, regardless of file size. This really sucks because I filled by card with around 4,000 songs (albeit pretty low bitrate), but it was useless. So no I have a huge card sitting around and nothing to do with it.

Ok, I decided to completely revamp my sound system in my car since it sucks. New question. I'm going to be plugging the GPS into a head unit I'm buying with an auxiliary cable. How good is the audio quality going to be coming from a 360 in comparison to songs coming straight from the head unit (CDs, USB)?

Or is the speaker on the nuvi loud and clear enough that I don't need the function that mutes my music when directions are being given?

To my untrained ear, my Nuvi 750 sounds as good as CDs when connected with the auxiliary cable.

With regard to your second question, I'm not sure what you mean by "the function that mutes my music when directions are given". Are you asking if the Nuvi speaker is loud enough to be heard while you are playing music on your car stereo? The answer to that is no, not really.
