Center channel to match with B&W 804 Matrix towers?

I have a pair of B&W 804 Matrix tower speakers and want to get a decent center channel speaker to match with it.

Couple I've considered include the Klipsch reference line (RC 52?) and Revel C12.

Budget is ~$500 give or take.

Recommendations?

Looks like the HTM1 is the match for this pair of towers.

Have you considered using a fantom center channel?

Will you be listening to this center before buying? Or, are you open to buying online without first listening to it?

The HTM1 is a wee bit out of my price range. That and I plan to buy local so I can demo them, but don't know where to find B&W speakers where I live right now.

A center not made by B&W will have a very different tone. This will cause it to stick out like a sore thumb, rather than blending in. Phantom center is probably a better choice until you can afford one that matches. (You could always try to find something used.)

Some Centers could match okay and if the OP is not a critical listener, I doubt he will notice.

Yes there will be a sonic difference but the bigger question is actually is it noticeable and ONLY the OP can answer that one. He should try a couple different brands that have similar traits to the B&Ws!

I was thinking what I could do is lug the B&W's to local shops and demo the centers with them. They weigh a ton, however.

I suppose I could also looking at simply getting different L/R speakers to match the center, but I'm hesitant to give up the B&W's.

ETA: I just located a single shop in my city that deals in B&W. I'll probably check them out first to see what they have then decide which speakers to purchase.

To bump and answer my own thread, I went with the B&W HTM4S. More than I wanted to spend originally, but if it blends better with the 804's, then I'm a happy audiophile.
