Returnin A Dead 360 to Microsoft?

So last year my premium 360 got the ring of death. I bought a new elite from costco last year so if it ever breaks i can easily walk in an return it with no problems. But I have yet to return my old 360 back and my warranty with circuit city expired so now I have to send it to microsoft.

I just had a few questions.

1. Do I have to send my hard drive in or can I keep it?
2. Do they try fixing it or do they send me a new one or a refurbished one?
3. How long does this whole process usually take?
4. When I was going to return it to Circuit City they wanted everything that came with it but I dont have my headset anmore because it broke and I dont think I have all the manuals either, so with that affect anything for when I send it to microsoft?

You were dealing with a retarded CSR. Kindly explain to them next time that they can keep the headset out of the new package to make the exchange a complete package.

- Typically, you only need to send in the console. They don't care about or want the hard drive, power supply or any of the accessories.

- They will try to fix your console; if it is damaged beyond repair or it will take them too long, they will send out a refurbished unit.

- The whole process typically takes about 4 weeks.

- Not having the headset anymore will not be a problem; as mentioned, they only have you send back the console.

Maybe it used to be 4 weeks, but 2 weeks is pretty much how long it takes now.

I've had mine repaired twice. The first time was early last year - which took about 3 weeks. Then the last one, which was a couple of months ago, took 10 days from the day I called MSFT until I was back gaming.

So I guess they've shortened their turn around times...

You don't send them anything but the console. No cables, no hard drive, no controllers, just the console. You'll get detailed instructions with the return box they send you.
