Spdif 5.1

Thread Starter
I'm sure this is on here, but I'm having a hard time finding it.

My PC is running XP with a ASUS P5E Deluxe (which has spdif out) and a GeForce 6900 GT (which has a DVI to HDMI adapter as well as spdif in) connected to a Sony receiver with hdmi in.

I have only two questions:
1. Is there any possible way I can get 5.1 over HDMI for all applications that run on the system with some sort of system-wide configuration/software?
2. If so, how would I go about accomplishing it?

Currently I only get front left, center, and front right channels over HDMI as well as when using the onboard spdif out.

Thanks,
DF

I think the audio chipset needs to have DD Live or DTS Connect for that to happen over spdif (and transported over hdmi). I don't see that as a feature of your ADI AD1988B chipset.
