Hope this is the place to post my query.
I want to play music from my desktop via HDMI through my Pioneer SC-05.
My desktop is a Gateway, Model DX4200-09, x64-based PC, it has an HDMI port.
So I've connected a HDMI cable from my personal confuser to my SC-05's HDMI 1 (IN) port
, but alas no big beautiful sound comes of it.
Looking at Audio Devices, Sound, it shows three things, topmost being "Realtek HDMI Output, ATI HDMI Audio, Not plugged in." Clearly the not plugged in is telling me something.
But just as clearly I can see it IS plugged in. It's grayed out and unselectable. Under that is "Speakers, Realtek High Definition Audio, Working," it's my default setting, is on and indeed is working. Lastly "Realtek Digital Output, Realtek High Definition Audio, Working" is also selectable though I don't actually hear any sound.
I've been to the Realtek website and installed (twice now) the High Definition Audio Codecs/Driver download ver. R2.66 for 64bits Vista hoping that would solve my lack of sound problem, but it hasn't.
Curiously, at one time I was able to see the SC-05 HDMI light, indicating it saw a connection, though my desktop still did not but rather still said not plugged in.
Apologies for the length of this but I'm trying to give as much detail or information that might be helpful or useful in resolving this. I've done a lot of searching elsewhere and, at one time, I had literally read this thread up and perhaps past 350 pages, but don't have the fortitude to do so again in hopes of finding a post about this specific issue of mine.
I've just had a mini-bulb light in my mind. I'm researching for some "ATI HDMI Audio" driver or something to see if that needs to be updated. I'm so lost.Edit:
I found a download on a website* and I ended up installing "Realtek High Definition Audio Driver R1.59." After rebooting I momentarily had the topmost Sound descriptor showing "Realtek HDMI Output, ATI HDMI Audio, Working." Yes!
However, my SC-05 still did not have it's red HDMI light shining and there was no actual sound coming from my speakers.
The ATI HDMI Audio allowed me to update the drivers so I did, rebooted, and it became unselectable and grayed out again. Ouch.
Much thanks for any ideas since my own aren't too good.
