Please define "frequent"... Once a minute? Once an hour?

Did you change any settings for the party? (Speakers A/B, Audio mode, ...)

Have you tried "Direct" and "Pure Direct"?

Please list the sources that you are using and have shown the problem. What happens if you connect only one digital source?

Does anything on the SC's display changes when the drop-out occurs?

Was the amp moved or near a busy place during the party? Could an HDMI connection be loose?

Dan.

I have an SC-07 and have a question about the HDMI-3 input. When I turn the knob I see BD, HDMI-1 and HDMI-2 but no HDMI-3. Why is this?
The input has probably been renamed (See p. 92 of the user manual). I thought there might also be a way to "hide it", but I can't find it in the manual.

Use the HDMI button on the remote to cycle through your HDMI inputs and look at the AVR's front panel to see what their names are.

I think I'm another that has LED problems on my SC-05. I haven't been using my equipment much in the last 9 months so unsure of when the problem started. I was listening to some music today and thought I saw something flash out of the corner of my eye. I look at my receiver and the Standby/On light is lit up bright blue and then after a few seconds it comes back on. I sit and watch this for a few minutes trying to time it in case it's some kind of error code but it's not. It would stay on for several moments and then turn off for several. It turned on and off a few times over several minutes and then just stayed off completely. I'm not sure if it did this intermittent lightning ever before.

Just to be clear, normal operation is a steady blue light on, right?

There were some other people having this issue and one of the member was gathering a list here: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1057599/official-pioneer-sc-05-and-sc-07-owners-thread/13350#post_17121071
I doubt he's still updating the list but if so, I think you can add me now.

Hello there! Is there any way to hook up the iPhone via USB to play pandora through the SC-05?
I'm not getting any DSP audio processing. I can get sound from analog inputs with "pure direct" or if I change HDMI to pass through (vs AMP) which allows the TV to output bo video and audio. I even tried resetting the SC-05 but no change, but now I noticed I can't even assign the HDMI inputs to other inputs (like TV/SAT, DVD, etc.). I also don't hear any tones when attempting either manual or auto MCACC setup. Again, "pure direct" for analog audio works and video is passed but no form of audio DSP generating sound. Oh, i do notice the audio is received since the display changes to indicate the type of audio being received (stereo, DD, etc.). I'm hoping its something stupid that I'm overlooking.
thanks in advance
atrain, for the inability to assign HDMI inputs to other inputs, you need to turn KuroLink off.

Not hearing the MCACC tones sounds more serious, though. How about radio (AM/FM) and internet radio?
thanks...turning off hdmi control fixed the hdmi assignment problem
tuner works but like the other inputs only in "pure direct" setting. no audio with any type of dsp or "direct" setting.

Thanks!
Instead of buying a new player , I ran a optical cable from my current player to mySC

As the next step, I'd call Pioneer. and start to resolve myself to bring it in for repairs frown.gif

thanks info_dan...i was afraid of that...hoping i was the stupid one and there was a miracle quick solution out there
post #17022 of 17039
If you have sound when in "Pure direct", and simply switching to "Direct" cuts off the sound, it does not look good...
after an email to support, being directed to call the 800 number and a discussion with support it looks like i have to replace the digital processing card on the SC-05. i'll be calling the local auth dealer tomorrow. any idea of how much this may cost?

Had an ipod working with mine. Don't know if it recognizes pandora though. Don't know why you would even try. Pandora sound stream is horrible.
I have never really tried the iPod feature. Can you connect to the iPod Touch 4th generation and play streaming services like Slacker, SXM, or Amazon Cloud Player?

Is it possible to get the firmware upgrade for the SC-05 and do it yourself?

I have a weird problem and was told by Oppo that my SC-07 is to blame. First of all, here's my setup: My TV (LG 55LE5400) has three HDMI inputs, HDMI1 is connected to my cable PVR, HDMI2 is connected to my SC-07, and HDMI3 is connected to my newly acquired Oppo BDP-103. I have the Oppo configured in "Split A/V mode" where its HDMI1 output carries video only and HDMI2 output carries video+audio, the intent of this function being to allow users w/o 1.4 AVRs to dedicate one HDMI's bandwidth to video only. My Oppo:HDMI1 is connected to TV:HDMI3 and my Oppo:HDMI2 is connected to SC-07:HDMI3. As stated previously, my SC-07 is also connected to TV:HDMI2. I have "HDMI Control" turned OFF on the SC-07.

Ever since I first plugged in the Oppo I have been having a connection issue between it and the TV; it's clearly a HDMI handshaking issue and I have to turn things on and off until the connection finally stabilizes. I thought this might be a cable problem but I have tried a number of different cables and the problem persists. After much experimenting I have discovered that if I disconnect the HDMI connection going from my SC-07:HDMI_Output_1 to my TV:HDMI2 the Oppo and TV get along just fine -- no handshaking issues. (Edit: FYI, I have also tried using SC-07:HDMI_Output_2 and same problem.)

Oppo tells me that the SC-07 must be doing something wrong with its HDMI Audio output; I checked the setting and it is set to "Amplifier" (and not "Through") which should be the correct setting for this configuration.

So (finally!) my question: Does anyone know of any bugs with the SC-07's HDMI system? Or a fix for this issue?

Thanks.

On my Sony S790, HDMI 1 is the video going to the TV, and HDMI 2 is audio only. I think you have yours setup backwards.

That's the way I have it too: HDMI1 (video) --> TV, HDMI2 (audio) --> SC-07. Although HDMI2 on the Oppo is not pure audio, it also carries video.

I'm looking for help running multi room in ceiling speakers to my SC05. I have the 7.1 set up in living room but can't figure out how to add the other rooms. I really don't want to buy another system. Help?!

I don't think you can unless you simply duplicate the 7.1 setup on the same channels. Read your manual. I also believe if you use zone 2 you lose 7.1 in the main. Drops to 5.1?

You do need another system.
To put more details on what mhrischuk said, the SC05/07 can only amplify 7 speakers. If you use them all in the main room, then the option for other rooms (zones) is to use the Zone 2 and Zone 3 outputs to a two-channel amplifier for each zone. Read page 66-69 of your manual.

You could also follow the links for Zone 2 and 3 configuration examples under "General Configuration" in Post #1 of this thread.

Hi guy's (and gal's), does anyone have experience with integrating an SVS subwoofer (ideally the SB13-Ultra) into their HT system w/a Pioneer SC-07 AVR using the MCACC program?

I used the SVS recommended settings for the subwoofer before running the MCACC setup routine, which set the sub's trim level to +9 dB.

My tower/center/surround speakers are set to small and the AVR's crossover frequency is set to 80Hz.

The results so far have been underwhelimg.

Thoughts/suggestions?
^ Have you figured it out? Follow the SC-07 instruction manual for integrating a subwoofer (Bass MGMT).

DSD over HDMI

Sorry if this has been asked & answered, I tried searching but could not search only this thread.
I also could not find the info in my Sc05 manual so if there is a page # someone could reference, I’d appreciate it.

Just bought an Oppo BDP-103 & while I currently don’t listen to Hi Rez audio except on BD movies, I need to know for the proper set up.

Does my Sc05 support DSD over HDMI?
Does my Sc05 decode HDCD?

Thanks,

Steve

Hello Steve,

I suggest you download the softcopy of the manual from Pioneer's archives, doing a find in the pdf file is much easier than trying to find the right paragraph (or the absence of the info!).

DSD is referenced on page 32: "DSD > PCM lights during DSD (Digital Stream Direct) to PCM conversion with SACDs". So yes, it decodes DSD.

There are no references to HDCD. You might want to compare the output of the Oppo doing the HDCD decoding (using its analog output) and what the SC-05 produces when playing digital signal without decoding HDCD.

Dan.

Thanks Dan! I have a PDF of the manual & don’t see a way to search it. I tried tools but no search window. I only have the free Adobe Reader. v 10.1.7 for Mac.

Here is a link in case others want the PDF:

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Home/SC-07_OperatingInstructions0523.pdf

I’m going to set my Oppo as if my AVR does support DSD over HDMI & does NOT decode HDCD.

If I ever get any HDCDs (dead or dying format?) I may do some tests with analog vs digital connections as you suggest.

Currently I’m happy watching BDs with lossless audio & listening to CDs in my Pioneer 6 disc CD Changer even though they probably sound a bit better in the Oppo BD player.

Regards,

Steve

Under windows, there are a few ways to do a search using Adobe Reader:
- Type Ctrl-F
- In the contextual menu (right-click in document (yeah, I know, no right mouse button on Mac)), select Find option
- Click on the Binoculars icon (This brings up a more global search)

Thanks Info_Dan!

Macs have had rt. click functionality for a long time. In 2007 when I switched from Windows to Mac you had to enable rt. click as it was disabled by default. (I was tired of spending so much time fixing, adjusting, tweaking, cleaning up Windows.)

To search PDF on Mac:

Rt. click in the body of the text
Select “find”

A search window opens upper right.
Voila!

I typed in “DSD” & in a couple seconds the relevant section that you had mentioned appeared with DSD highlighted!
