OT but If you want to see something really funny (or maybe really disturbing) watch the replies that Kevin's video gets (where do these people come from) .

Thanks for the review. I'm still going to GameFly it but at least I've been warned that it may not be everything I hope for.

man this sucks
im really a fan of that genre of game, but i dont understand how you can make a game for over 10 years and have it come out so poorly

the first and most important thing they missed to begin with was the fact that type of game is supposed (IMO) to be played with a group of people, not just 1 other person. Even if you can bare playing with just 1 person it sucks if u want to play with friends...me and friend A play for a bunch of hours and get to level 20, meanwhile friend B didnt play waiting for me or some one else and is like 2

Even during the demo i noticed all the thing you did about how poor it looked, i tried to get over the skating thing during attacks but u just attack and slide from person to person....that looked so stupid when u consider u have a bunch of games that do it right...

O well, ill pray for D3 on console

That was pretty interesting defense. At first he points out all the crp but then says its fun. I do think that 5.5 is in the bad range...which is odd because 6.0 I dont. But maybe because Overlord got some 6's and some other games on the old xbox got 6s that I thought were fine games.

I do intend to get this game, I just dont know that I will get it this week and may just wait to get it when its cheaper.

3+ Hours in, lvl 12.

There is plenty to whine about but only one thing IMHO is really "broken". There is no penalty for dying. Not that there is usually much of one in hack and slashers but there needs to be more than there is here.

Like many new IP's (Not that we ever see MANY new IP's of course) this one is full of potential.

They need to make it easier to control the camera, keep the right stick combat, but make it so as soon as you hold the left bumper you get 100% control with the stick instead of combat.

Get rid of the Valkrie.

Penalize you for death.

And for the love of god... 4 players!

X-play and Keven Pereira love the game but all the other reviewers seem to hate it. I was going to buy it simply because it is the first 'big' title too hit the streets but I think I'll save my money and go to my game back-log for fulfillment...let me know when it's less than $30...
well the game i guess was expected to do so poorly its aready $50 at a few places

and with it this doing this bad, i dont see how they have already starting making TH 2 and 3
post #40 of 445
I am loving this game so far.. I am a picky bastard as well.. I used to be all about review scores but this **** has opened my eyes. TH has made me a more open minded person.. Hellboy the game still sucks balls though.

I loved the demo, and now have the game and its great as well. I think I might have skipped over something accidentally though. Probably an hour and a half in, there's a well which leads you to the first wide open area, where there's two chests, and then a fence, and something you push that goes into the fence to break it open. I went down through the hole in the fence, and there was another area to stand on that looked like something should happen, but I couldn't figure out what to do. So, I left to change my armor and weapons, and then I couldn't get back in to try anything else.

I'm now at GRNDL-1, and couldn't figure out how to kill it, so I figured that was probably enough for one night.

I loved the demo also. Picked up the game today, really enjoy it. I never like to go by what these reviewers rate games, it's simply not my opinion in most cases.
I've hated MANY games that get great reviews.
Try it, if you didn't like it then you didn't like it.

Everyone was virtually blowing MGS4 and GTA4 and I hated both those games. Everyone is shitting all over Too Human and I love it. Apart from somewhat annoying combat controls (though, I think it might be the weapon speed more than controls [using a 2-handed hammer, currently), I've got no complaints with the game at all. It's a ton of fun and fills the RPG void on 360 quite well.
The only ones "blowing" GTA4 were the magazines and review sites, most of the people here thought GTA4 was good but has lots of major flaws.

I picked this up. I felt the demo was dissapointing and didn't like it. Then I saw a review site give it high marks and they gave you an actualy video review of the game. That sold me. So I picked it up. I FREAKING LOVE THIS GAME! Wow. I haven't been addicted to a game this much since Oblivion. I am not sure where the negative comes in on the graphics. The environments are anything but bland. When you get to your main city it is one of the most gorgeous things ever. Simply stunning. Then you go on a few missions after that and the environment is mouth dropping, huge, grand, massive. In the background is massive machinery churning things out, pulsating with color. Very impressive. I rarely spend time looking around in a game, this one, I do. I think the fighting with the right stick (which was a huge worry point for me) is intuitive and works excellent. Sliding into an enemy and attacking is incredibly satisfying. Your special powers like the ground slam are freaking amazing. I was dissapointed in the inventory in the demo but once you play it for awhile the inventory management system is fantastic. Comparing items at a glance should be the staple in every game. I love the comparision, helps so much. I love the new items you find and the constant loot drop. Being able to set your inventory to auto salvage weaker items is a huge time saver. Customizing your character to create one bad a** hero is fantastic. Some armor sets make him look so freaking cool. I also love how you can hide the HUD so you can have full screen and enjoy all the graphics/fighting. I have nothing but huge props for this game.

The negatives, is no camera control during battle (limited after battle). Altought I have only had once where I got turned around due to the huge glowing walls that show you where you can and can't go. Also, the other negative is no run. There are a lot of hidden chests, items, areas in the game so you can spend a lot of time walking around and you can't make him run faster.

All in all a solid 9 out of 10 for me. Love it.

The camera REALLY pissed me off last night. Do you recall the portion from the beginning of the game where you go into Cyberspace (after the first encounter with those three women there) and have to turn a huge, curved rock toward one of three doors which then opens a corresponding door in real life?

Well, in the first door, the camera suddenly flipped on me in combat with that boss dude and Baldur was turned around. And using a 2-handed sword, he kept swinging from when I'd moved the analog stick earlier so he was completely ignoring my movement of the left stick to get him to turn around, I died and that doorway closed off forever.

I hope they patch the dying sequence.. If I see that floating bitch one more time I may just start gnawing on my gamepad. The 5.1 in this game is amazing.. It really gives my subwoofer a workout.

The sound is so inconsistent, though. Cut scenes require cranking the volume waaaay up and battle forces me to shove it way down. The explosions are absolutely ridiculous. I have my receiver at -49dB for games and that's pretty loud (why the hell are games so much louder on the 360 over DVDs and regular TV? For non-gaming, my receiver is usually at -30dB to get the same level of volume that -49dB gives for games) and I have to turn it down to -62dB for it to be "normal" (aka not window-shatteringly loud).

Oh, and another complaint: that insanely high-pitched beepy noise on the menus. It really hurts my ears.

I haven't had to turn it up or down when going from battle to cut scenes.. They sound about the same to me.

The explosions from those rocket dudes are DEAFENING! I wonder what the hell is going on with my setup then.

So I wasn't done with the game like I stated above. I did decide to go back and wrap things up since I was very near the end.

I fired the game up and continued my battle with GARM (frightening name, eh?). After unlocking the "Valkerie's Folly" acheivement (die 100 times), I defeated him (a gigantic cyber-dog that shakes explosive spikes at you in the same way a dog shakes water off it's back--I'm being serious) and moved on to the final boss battle.

It was a long and tedious journey--I racked my death count up to somewhere around 130-140 deaths (thanks to no way to heal yourself unless you smash crystals for orbs--wtf, no red potions a la Diablo?), hacked my way through countless lame looking zombies, sat through more cutscenes and even fell through a floor at one point. Good times! Well, I finally made my way to the final boss. Once I whupped up on it, I set the controller down and pondered how this game ended up being as unenjoyable as it was. There is a lot to it, but I think I've probably said enough with all my posts. The game is just not for everyone. Pick up this game only if you absolutely loved the demo.

The explosions are pretty wicked.. I only have an ED a2-300 but it really does the job in the room I have it in. Maybe I have damaged my hearing or am just used to listening at loud levels???

Go buy a used copy of Hellboy: The Science of Evil.. It scored around the same as TH ..

How far in to the game are you? Actually, that doesn't matter. At no point in my experience with the game were there "a lot of hidden chests, items and areas".

There are no chests in the game. There are virtually no hidden areas. This game is very very linear sans hidden places.

I'm not trying to attack you or start an arguement here, but just correcting you for the people who are still on the fence with this game.

I agree about the sound. Its not that its in consistent at all, its just the way its mixed. Voices are very soft, and battle sounds are very loud. Its very consistent. It was sort of an issue playing last night at midnight, but I don't mind it too much otherwise.

That's exactly what inconsistent means. There seems to be no reference level that was used when mixing the game. The only thing consistent about the game's sound is its inconsistency.

I am sure William is calling the loot pillars chests. There are different paths you can take to find wells that are out of the way as well, which do constitute as being hidden since they are not in the direct path. Overall, Williams experience is falling right in line with mine. I spent 3.5 hours on it last night, and had to force myself to put it down and get some sleep before work. Great game, but not meant for all. If you liked the diablo series, or KUF, you will likely enjoy this game. I would definately try the demo a couple times first as well.

But let's be honest here. A "hidden room" is just that--hidden. It's not a small room located 30 feet to the left of a door you need to enter to progress. That's clearly not hidden at all. I've played through the entire game and I don't recall a single instance where the wells were hidden.

To be clear of my interpitation--and I'll use Metroid here because it's a great example--a hidden room is where you need to use a gameplay mechanic (like an explosive) to open a wall (or some sort) to retrieve something (like an extra health pack or missle pack or extra guy).

These rooms arnt hidden at all--not even in the slightest. You *have* to find them to get to the cyberworld to push, pull, or burn something to take effect elsewhere so you can progress.

By your logic--would'nt every room that's off the beaten path be a "hidden room"?
