There's a good reason those kind of settings exist. It all depends on how someone is going to listen and how the room is set up. For example,
- as background music with a group of people in the room, having all channel stereo (set to a good level around the room) beats out pure 2 channel (too loud for some and too quiet for others) by a mile.
- if you have multiple seating areas, or are moving around the room, all channel stereo can be useful too.
