So for it to work on your PS3 have it in this YCbCr mode with super white "On" to allow full range from the PS3

I do not know if I understand you correctly, but here is what I tested:
To test Full Range RGB, I simply chose that option in the menu and displayed the picture and did observe that I could see all the "black" boxes.
For BTB, I forced the PS3 to output Blu-Ray/DVD to YCbCr and enabled "Super White", and I could see BTB.

However, I don't have Dirty Dancing on Blu-Ray, but my girlfriend has it on DVD. But I am not going to ask for it, that would be a personal catastrophe.. And I will get bullied for the rest of my life

You can't use the DVD of Dirty Dancing to test for BTB, only the BD was incorrectly mastered with black below level 16. (Not that I have both versions or anything).

Has anyone received the RXV3900 yet? Just doing some homework as Yamaha told me I will be getting them next week for demo, we are a Yamaha dealers now in Bellevue, WA for the new store (local only). Any feedback would be great

No so great news. I think the 2700 and 3800 were available earlier in the fall. Something wrong in the supply chain maybe, or last minute issues found during testing.

I placed one on hold/order with my dealer back in Sept. Last Monday(I believe?), my dealer told me they were shipping from Yamaha that day. This week I was told that it was a paperwork error on Yamaha's part and that they didn't ship and it's probably gonna be at least another 1-2 weeks. C'mon Yamaha... My speakers are gonna be in next week, but nothing to push them with....

I should have a pretty nice man-cave, eventually. I have a Mits 73835 and I'm pairing it with the Yamaha RX-V3900 and Paradigm Monitor series speakers in a 5.1 array(11 Towers, CC-290 Center, DSP-3400 Sub and (don't remember model # dealer recomended)in-ceilings for the rear surrounds). It'll be fed a DirecTV HD DVR, PS3/Blu-ray, XBOX 360, Wii and Denon 2910 DVD Player; all via HDMI except the 360(old model with comp. only) and Wii(which only goes to 480P via comp.).

I hope it's worth the wait.

waiting is killing me cause the 3900 is so late coming out.i cant hook video of blueray or satilte to my marantz 6001 cause it only scales up to 480p.this 1 reason i ordered the 3900.when i emailed yamaha they say noverber.

I don't see why you can't use your Marantz until you get the 3900. The 6001 will accept the video and multi-channel PCM audio via HDMI from a Blu-ray player. It doesn't have to scale the HDMI inputs.

Not really. I was hoping to get it set-up before Gears 2 hits the street.

It should be a nice set-up...once you get the V3900! I have the Paradigm Monitor 9's and LOVE THEM! I added some Hsu to the mix too - HC1-MK2 Center and VTF3-MK3 Sub...have the Hsu HB1's on order, using those for the two main surrounds - using Yamaha 'NS' series for the 'extra' surround speakers (to make up the 7.1).

I compared the RXV1900 to the Denon 3808 in a A/B comparison and they sounded very similar. The 1900 sounded less processed which I liked. I'm thinking of going with the 3900 b/c I want the extra features it has over the 1900, but have a question. Right now I'm running a Denon 3805 with Martin logan source fronts, and matinee center. The Denon I have works pretty well with the varying ohm load of the logans. How well would the Yamaha do with these speakers?

The manual says that's it's ok to run 4 ohm speakers on the L/R channels, so I would suspect it will work with the ML's

Best Buy has the 3900 in stock at their warehouses. I ordered mine on Saturday and it will be delivered to the store on 10/24 (Friday). I could have had it as soon as 10/21 if I ordered it earlier last week. Apparently they had them in their warehouse at least 10 days ago. I am wondering if there was a quality control issue and Yamaha stopped shipping and BB's early shipment could be bad or whether Yamaha had non-related issues preventing shipping earlier. Sound Advice said they would not receive shipment until November

I've also been advised by a couple of reliable sources that the 3900 will be available in the UK within 2 weeks. Which is great news for me in London. Far better than end of November !

I don't believe the initial proposed delay had anything to do with quality control or any other technical issues. I believe it was purely a component supply issue that now appears to have been rectified.

So hopefully a few of us at least can get our hands on fully functioning 3900's in the next couple of weeks

Yup. I asked how many they received, he said 'all BO's are being filled plus putting a few on the shelf'.

...so, that November info must have been inaccurate.

Apparently not. I think this was discussed already in this thread. Look a few pages back. The manual mentions a limitation over component.

Taking off in about 1/2 an hour to pick up the 3900...and I also got a call that my bass traps are in today...so, wow...good day all around.

I'll do an initial set-up, and then bounce back over to see about any questions.
