I assume you have an RX-V3900?
My advice is to spend $30 or whatever it is, and get the HQV test discs. That makes it easier to evaluate the usefulness of various settings.
That being said, I see no benefit to the 3900's VP.
Ok, there's one obvious benefit. If I were to use the XBox 360 as a DVD player, the 3900 corrects it's poor deinterlacing through the magic of PReP. I don't suggest using the 360 as a DVD player though.
My TV is a Panny 46" plasma.
