Does anyone know if the Yamaha would consider releasing a firmware for the 3900 to support 3D via HDMI 1.4
Thats an interesting observation
I have an 875( which is sonic equal to the 876) and the Yamaha 1900
The sheer power of the Onkyo is in another league to the Yamaha...and I am not even going into the video capabilities of the Onkyo vs the Yamaha
Curiously why do you prefer the Yamaha
I am in a bit of a comparision mode...I got some "firesale " deals at magnolia ht on a 1900 and a Z7( as well a Denon 4310)
I sat all of them in the same room and connected them to the same source( along with the Onkyo) to some 4ohm Vienna Acoustics speakers
I know these particular speakers are difficult to drive...that was my reason for using them as test subjects
The Onkyo is easilly the most powerful of the bunch driving the speakers with ease..The 4310 and the Z7 don't have the ease the Onkyo does.
Sound quality(4310, 875,Z7)
I would put all three at the same level when the speakers are not being driven very loudly.
1900 seems a little less refined in this department
The onscreen menu..... My first thought when I saw this was.."are you kidding"?
It does sound good...and nearly sounds like its the equal ( power wise) to the Z7...though the Z7 has a little more refinement in its sound
The Z7 has a much more sophisticated menu and set up though
The Denon is head and shoulders the technical marvel of the group( inclusive of the Onkyo)...the way it overlays over HDMI and the way the settings are done is top notch
But for pure sound...my hat still goes off to the Onkyo...it will drive a heavy load to very loud levels almost effortlessly
so I ask the question again
what made you prefer the 1900 over the 876?
