Yeah, I had considered replacing the drive, just not sure where the problem lies. It works sometimes. It was a very solid performer for many months, then I was cleaning and had the unit streaming Pandora and I accidentally hit the power switch on my power strip and killed the power to all my equipment. After that the Sammy was very sporadic in streaming or doing anything. Keeps locking up at "Load". Wish I knew what the problem was.

Too bad the Blu ray drive is not a standard drive. I pulled the drive out of my Panny BDP-10a and popped it into my computer, I'd pull it out and try in in the Sammy but it's not compatible.

Now I really don't think it's the drive. It's a long shot, but try reloading whatever firmware version you're on via USB; sounds like you may have "scrambled it's brains" when you pulled the power.

I use Netflix and Pandora A LOT! The quality of the streaming video is MUCH better than it is on my LG BD390, Xbox360 or my TV's built-in app.

Has anyone tried the Glee season 1 bluray set on this player? On disc 1, the special features are fine, but the episodes won't play. They show a red-screen dutch (?) warning and then go back to the menu screen.

I have the latest firmware.

I have exactly the same problem.

My player has been in storage for a while, and I can't remember if I've applied any firmware updates to it since I purchased it last January.

Hooked it up the other day to try to use it and all it says is "LOAD".

Tried resetting it via the same methods and no luck.

Samsung service says it is out of warranty and that it will cost $110 to fix (unless it was caused by a firmware update).

This sucks. I've got a brand new player that I've probably used less than a dozen times which is now a paperweight.

I can buy a new player for about the same price as they want to fix this one. You can bet it won't be a Samsung!

Just wanted to check again and see if anyone has had success playing the Twilight: Eclipse special edition blu-ray yet on this player. I freeze at a black screen right before the menu should load.

And just like that my problematic 2250 is working again. Had the Load issues after inadvertently killing the power, now it seems to be working again. Sure wish I knew what the "Load" secret is.....

Can someone tell me if ver 2.7 will bring back Netflix for the Canadian models, now that Netflix is available in Canada? I am thinking of loading it but I like the Netflix and Pandora icons and don't want to lose it by loading the Canadian FW version. Before 2.4 the icons were there but after that they removed it from the Canadian FW versions since Netflix was not available at that time.

Just got the Salt bluray today and tried to load it. My BD-P2500 just stops at the horizontal blue bar almost 80% to the end of the bar.

Anyone else see this?

Previously, I have been fortunate with a few "workarounds" working on a few bluray discs but this one is pretty much done.

Lastly, does anyone know the result of the class action lawsuit?

I also got Salt yesterday, but I was able to play mine without issue on the 2500. The only disc I still have trouble with is Twilight: Eclipse.

That post is from February 8, 2008, so what is the update on it?

This is weird... Let's compare some notes:

My BD-P2500 info from screen:
S/W: 090419.01_091108B1_1254.08_XAA
BD Live = Prohibit
NTP Server = Off

The Salt BD disc is from Redbox rental, so it's the one that is printed on the silkscreen = Salt: The Unrated Edition Director's Cut. This disc I tried to play is not a "Rental" disc image that Netflix sometimes provides in lieu of actual BD images sold in stores.

Can you see which disc you have, presumably you have a Netflix disc?

My disc is not a rental but I bought it from amazon. That may have something to do with it. Also, you may need to upgrade your firmware to the 2.7 that came out earlier this month. That alone may solve your issue.

Funny that I tried to check for an update via the player's menu but it said there is no update....

Anyways, you are already on 2.7 but you also mentioned that Twilight: Eclipse still has issues correct? And, Samsung just released 2.7 ... I guess we'll all be waiting for another update...

No problem. Glad to help. Were you able to play Salt after the update?
I first tried Eclipse with the 2.6 firmware. After it did not play I upgraded to 2.7 but it still did not work. I then called Samsung support and they basically just told me that I would have to wait until another firmware was released. When I asked her if that would be released in weeks or in months, she said that she had no idea.
I must say that I love this player (picture quality, upconverting, Netflix), but if they do not improve the support and compatibility with all discs, I will be switching brands on my next purchase.

I agree. Also, there's no excuse for not being able to download it thru the player(at least when I did it). I did buy my girlfriend an LG-BD530 for $80 off Amazon, we'll see how that works. It got great reviews from the large majority of people who bought it...

for some reason, after i updated my player to 2.7 it doesn't fully activate my netflix. its getting annoying!

This is why I wouldn't upgrade unless there's > 1 disc that won't work. I'm convinced that some discs just won't work on some players for no reason (doesn't make it right, just something weird with Samsung).

I have my P2550 connected to a Samsung LCD TV upstairs via a Actiontec MOca adapters. The P2550 requires activation every time I turn it on to watch Netflix. This has become bothersome as I have to go down and up three levels to activate Neflix from my computer which is located in the basement. The problem started a few days ago and I didn't do any changes to this setup unless the player updated itself to a newer firmware. What could be the culprit ? Anybody experience this ? Thanks.

I am having the same problem with Netflix staying activated. I've called Netflix and they said they are aware of this problem, but do not know why it is happening. They said they are working on a fix. They did not blame Samsung's newest FW 2.7. I was surprised by this as I expected finger pointing.

This is extremely annoying as we watch Netflix at least 3 times per week.

Anybody else heard of a possible fix by either Netflix or Samsung?

I actually had to re-activate Netflix a few days ago when I went to watch something, but I often do the first time I watch something after an update.

However, I haven't watched anything since, so I don't know if it's going to persist this time. I should try it out again later to see.

For what it's worth, I always let the player update itself over the ethernet connection. I've never had an issue doing that, so I just continue to allow it to do so.

Well, this issue seem to be Samsung specific. I don't have this problem with PS3 or Roku, only with 2550.

I have to say, our 2500 has been flawless. Our 2550 has been a problem since the day we cut the tape... Very disappointed in Samsung. Haven't been hugely impressed with their Service and Support. Bad record keeping in their favor has limited me from having my 2550 declared a lemon.

How do I disable auto firmware update on this player ?

+1 My 2500 has been flawless for almost 2 years now. I bought a 2550 used w/o a remote for only $35 about 8 months ago for a backup, as the PQ is so fantastic for BD & DVD upconversion. It is very finicky and often "stutters" on BD playback. It was my understanding that they're identical except for the firmware that enables Pandora on the 2550. I had the bright idea of updating the 2550 with the latest firmware for the 2500, changing the file name and even using hexedit to change any instances of "2500" to "2550" in the file, in hopes the 2500 FW would "straighten out" the 2550. But, no go, it refused the 2500 FW every time, giving a message "cannot use this file".


There is no auto firmware update, I assume you mean the message that there is a newer firmware version? I checked the manual and don't see anyway to turn that off. I don't have my player connected to the internet, so I never see it, but I always keep it updated with the latest FW. Obviously, I don't use Netflix or BD Live.

Same thing here. Disk works fine on an old Panasonic BD-30 that hasn't been updated in a while, so go figure.

I'll try to reload 2.7 and see if it works for me.

The reload did the trick for me.
Disk plays now.

Issue is still unresolved. Has anyone tried downgrading the firmware from 2.7?

Same issue here. Netflix CS says they are working on a solution. They have no time frame for the fix though.

Salt plays fine on my 2500, fw 2.7
that includes all 3 versions of the film
