Help with remote control and wiring to projector

Finishing up running all of the wires for home theatre. I have a ceiling mounted projector with Cat 6, component and HDMI running to the projector from the receiver location.

All of my components will be located in the back left corner of my room. I will have a receiver, DVD, cable box and XBOX 360. What type of remote do I need since my components will not be located in front of the viewing area by the screen? Do I need to run any type of wire up to the projector to control it with the remote?

The first thing I would do is point the remote for your projector straight at the screen and see if the signal will bounce off the screen and control the projector. If it does that will save you some time.

As far as the rest of your components go, you will probably want to look into an RF remote with a base station like the Harmony 890, or 1000. There are other remotes from manufacturers like URC, Pronto, etc that are popular here too, but I am not familiar with them so I will leave those recommendations up to other people.

Thanks for the response. Drywall is the next step, so the screen is not on the wall yet. Before closing in the walls, let's assume the signal does not bounce off my screen. Would I need to run a wire up to my projector to the receiver for the remote to control my projector? If so, what type of wire? I am trying to plan ahead since drywall will be going in the next couple of days.

You can run regular CAT5 (such as you would for ethernet). The little IR emitters just use 2 wires and it is AC so there won't be much drop over the length of the cable. You will just end up using 1 pair of the cable rather than all 4 pairs.

I mounted an IR receiver in a box above my screen. The projector receives its' signal via bounce and everything else get the signal via blinkers in my closet. I ran Cat5e from the box to the closet.
