purevideo dxva vs ffdshow. hqv test disk

i'm gonna do a comparison.
i'm gonna do the detail test, and which other one sounds good.
not the deinterlacing since ffdshow isn't setup for it in my configurations.

the test has to be reproducable in a standard ntsc movie.
so the noise reduction is one more i can think of.

i'm gonna gho geto thoso pics noh.

edit
i made a mistake.
in order to take the purevideo pictures i had to setup theatertek first.
the way i set up theatertek was deinterlacing was set to film, post processor ffdshow.
when i set it to smart deinterlacing and no post processing the detail in the purevideo screen captures leaped out.

so i need to retake the screens of the purevideo using these new settings.

You should really do at least some of the basic film mode detection tests (like the first colorbar pattern).

Plus it would get slaughtered.

it's meaningless to compare using the hqv disk.
like i said before in a edit, if i set the purevideo codec up a certain way it shows greater detail in the hqv detail test, but in a real world ntsc disk (the fifth element) it shows not a trace of this detail enhancement, not even a speck of difference. it stupified me for a long time but then i just gave up on it.
sure the test disk says one thing, but the real actual movie says another, and i watch the movie not the test disk.

so since i could not for the life of me get the detail enhancement to go for anything but that test disk, i think using pictures to say purevideo vs ffdshow is a non arguement, with the hqv disk anyway.

that detal test is interlaced and i think this actives purevideo detail enhancement. for a progressive ntsc dvd movie this feature is not there at all.

so, sorry.

here's the pictures but with purevideo edge enhancement.
i could not get the edge enhancement to work in any other disk since i use progressive disks and the hqv is interlaced.
i tried everything i could to get the same amout of detail enhancement on a regular movie dvd as was on the hqv test disk,
but regardless of how i set it it did not happen.
i think edge enhancement only happens when the purevideo coded is setup to use smart deinterlacing and the film is interlaced.

Interesting. I personally would like to see more of this kind of comparison between ffdshow and the likes and current generation GPUs comparing upscaling and sharpness as it's the only difference that would make me want to use ffdshow.

I'm waiting for someone to test Radeon 4000 series in particular as ATI is saying they incorporated a new extra-quality upscaler.
