I'm nearing the home stretch for getting it put together. I bought 1" x 6' doweling and thought I could cut it to fit, but my saw just won't get the cut square enough for me feel comfortable using for legs.





Here's what I'm using to be able to position the sub just about anywhere I want in the room. It works just as well as I hoped!

I got a 18" Chop saw that does square cuts on dowels very well if U want I'll do some legs for Ya ?
i think I have some 1" Hardwood dowels laying around , i could get them out today !

I've already been using the wireless setup and it had been performing flawlessly. The quality sounds the same as if I plugged it in straight to the receiver via coax. It really saved me on this sub as I can move it around without worrying about a cable.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm currently talking to someone about machining som aluminum legs. I'll let you know how that goes.

Did a quick mockup. The wood dowels aren't going to be used as I have some custom machined aluminum ones being made for me. I think I'll anodize them the same color as the driver. As it sits, before the top grille, it is 40" tall.

Thank you. I think I'm going to wrap in cork so that I can sand it all smooth and then have the wife sew a sock for it out of black velvet.

Yeah, it's at the same height as the PC12-Plus. It makes me want to hear some of the monsterous sonosubs that people build here. This one is just a small one, although 5" taller than my SVS.

Some of the pages move so fast that I don't keep up. I can make it.

Which reminds me... I completely forgot you were needing your router back . It's been cleaned and packed up all week and I FAIL. Do you need it tonight or can I bring it tomorrow?

You'll be happy to know that I ended up using two 3/4" panels of MDF glued together for the base plate. I made one out of plywood with 3/4" glued to 1/4" and it was warped and I wasn't really happy with it. The MDF is nice and straight and will add some needed weight at the bottom of the sub.

Yeah that looks great ! & I think you will very happy with dbb thickness as U said gives it a very low center of gravity , should look great with the Black AL feet .. I dropped a wad on a TX-NR5008 for my AVR to replace the TX-NR807 going 9.2 with heights & wides
i selling the 807 now keeping the 707 for the bedroom

That's gonna look great with black velvet sock covering the sono tube great work !

Your HT looks really nice. I think I read that you used Mouse ears for the screen wall and ceiling but I didn't see what the wall color is. Do you find that the walls are dark enough that you don't get too much reflection from the screen onto them?

Yes, I did use the Mouse Ears paint on the front wall and the ceiling. I never noticed any reflection, however, the front wall is now covered with LinAcoustic. IIRC, the brownish paint is Carmelized Onion (from Lowes) but I'd have to double-check as that could be the name of what we used in our Living Room.

Where in Phoenix are you from?

I'm definitely planning to use mouse ears on the screen wall and ceiling. Doors and trim will be black as well. My issue right now is deciding on a color for the remaining walls. I really like colors like what you are using (caramelized onion is one of the many samples I picked up from Lowes yesterday) but I'm concerned about going so light.

Right now my ceiling is white and all walls are very light tan. Light control in the room is really good but I'm currently getting alot of reflection off the ceiling and side walls (I don't have a screen up yet so perhaps that will help some too). I'm seeing enough of you guys doing colors like this in rooms MUCH nicer than mine will be so I'm guessing it must not be an issue.

I'm curious on the black paint - how many coats did you need to use?

I'm currently in northern Peoria but I transplanted from LA (where I'm from) about 6 years ago.

I'm going to make it a point to make sure Caramelized Onion is the paint I used so that I don't tell you wrong... but when you get rid of all the whites/light colors and have something like the CO and black paint, it's not very light. Paints always seem darker once the entire room has been painted.

After using some cheap primer/paint to be soaked up by new drywall, I *think* I only put two coats. The Mouse Ears covers VERY well. When my buddy helped me paint my false wall framing, he was very surprised at how well it went on.

It's Behr's flat black which is part of the Disney line. It's the easiest why to remember it as they have the same color with a different code.

The flat black I originally got from Menards was fairly shiney for being flat.

I had the same problem with the dark brown I used from Lowes (Valspar) on the ceiling - flat wasn't very flat - painted over it with a Behr equivalent color from HD, and ended up much better, more what I expected from a "flat".

Last night I got the Hurricane nuts in with some epoxy and let it set up all night. The aluminum feet have been received and are a perfect fit, so now I'm on to finishing the wood. I like this color, but I'm not sure if I want to darken it with another application. Any thoughts?
