I have not done much with standard, as I found that I was happier with the results of advanced and smooth.

I'll stick with Advance. A couple weeks ago I tried Standard, Smooth, and Advance on a Blu-ray that has a scene that doesn't look good at 24fps (panning across some vertical columns), and didn't notice much of a difference for the three settings, but it seemed marginally better for some reason in general with Advance.

I agree that the manual is poor about these features.

1. I feel this could protect me if parts are not available in a few years with Pioneer getting out of TV's.
2. AV Store (well known and running for 25+ years) will provide loaner if taken out for repair.
3. If no repairs required after 5 years, the $599 is given as credit to any store purchase.

Pioneer gives you 2 years so your paying $599 for 3 more years.

I had local av store go out of business that had been here 20 years so it does happen, and losing Pioneer plasma sales $$% in the near future can't help.

Getting your money back in the form of a store purchase is a good hook for a sale but like you say if they are there in 5 years and 5 years can be a long time...... your money your choice.

I would go with a mack 3 year add on ext warranty from one of the avs forum sponsors. If you got a really good deal on your pro141 it would be ~$302

Thank you for everyones help. I cancelled the service agreement and used the money for a BDI stand for under the panel for the center speaker and a few components. It is mostly dark glass and glossy black - my 5.1 speakers also have a piano black finish. Should look great when the BDI comes in

Yea I agree with turbo extended warranty is good but not for double the price you should be paying. Also I was told by Pioneer just now that the current price drop from them on the 141FD's is valid until they get to a certain level of stock and after that they are raising like they did on the 111s. And that could happen very soon since stock is not good to begin with.

Signature 141 is inbound from ROMAN, just ordered on friday.

No way I'm going to be able to sleep for the next week. I already have a 5010 but I'm sure it's going to be even a huge difference from that.

BTW, Roman was fantastic to deal with. Whole heartedly recommend him.
I am expecting delivery of a new signature 141 on Friday thanks to ROMAN as well. It's tuff waiting on one of these, but its definitely part of the fun! Thank you ROMAN!

Hi everyone , i calibrated my PS3 today and heres what i got. The gamma at 10 IRE starts at 2.2 and from 20 to 100 its 2.35. I like it this way , preserves shadow detail at the low end and gives me more depth of an image throughout the rest of the gamma curve.

With a lot of help from SilllySally, finally got the monitor into a well calibrated state!

It also sent me an email this evening -- 500 hours!

For those who are interested, the settings are below, and you can check out the CalMAN reports (and Double S's coaching) over at Turbe's ControlCal thread:

This has been a very interesting learning experience. Am looking forward to getting a new BD source and doing it all over again!

Sorry to post this here but I do not know where else to post this. My brand new 141 (January build) just went blank and the red power light began flashing twice, then pausing, then twice, then pausing. Now I can not get it to turn on. Unplugged, etc. No success.

I have had this TV less than one week. It was a January 2009 build, or so says the box. It was purchased from one of the AVS forum dealers. I hope I am taken care of here.

I saw a thread where this happened with a 5010, but did not find anything with a 141. Will the forum dealers take care of this? Anyone had a similar experience? I can only imagine how long I will now be without a TV.

I look forward to any replies

Thanks.

Contact the dealer, and I am sure you will be taken care of. Sounds like something that needs to be looked at by a pro. Mind you mine wouldnt turn on the 2nd day I had it...I was very embarrassed to realize I had accidently bumped the master power button on the bottom left.

Hi Vancouver -

That is my plan. The Oppo web site says that round two of the EA program will now be 300 people (was 100), and that the emails should go out later today. Hopefully I am one of them!

Thanks, vancouver. I know it's not the master power switch. That was turned on. I had unplugged it over night. Plugged it in, turned it on, heard two distinct clicks and the blue light, which came on momentarily, went to flashing red twice and pausing again. No picture. Something is fried on the TV. God, this sucks!

That stinks, as long as you are within the warranty window you will be fine, dont drag your feet though because if they run out not sure what they will do then.

I have a call into the local Pioneer authorized service center. The first tech said he would call Pioneer directly and call me back. Waiting on that call now. This is driving me crazy! And damn, I am going to miss 24 on the big screen. I was so looking forward to it.

I just got a call from CEVA and they will be delivering my new 141 tomorrow instead of Friday! WooHoo!!

Thay say the 141's are "limited edition hand picked" monitors. Does anyone know how many of these "limited" number of monitors were made?
Allot less than the 151's but I think only Pioneer knows the exact #'s

If I was to guess I would say 1 in 50 or even 1 in 100 sold are 141s vs 151s. Roman you can comment on the ratio you see as a dealer right?

And judging from the posts I've seen, I have one of 10 101s in existence.

This august i will probably not be in the pioneer family anymore. Panasonic is coming out with their neo-pdp 65 inchers with infinite blacks.
So ill have a nice used 141 for sale soon.

I saw the 54" at CES and it was not up to the level of the Kuro which is why I grabbed a 141 although at an incredible price. I can see why you may want the extra 5" though over the 141, but the overall picture won't be as good. Close enough? For most, probably.
