Signature Elite 141 Owners Thread - Page 95

Nambit; did you try the input buttons on the side of the set?
I've been lurking in this thread for a while and finally took the plunge into HDTV nirvana. Thanks for all those who contributed and especially Roman O from BuyBest Plasma for the awesome deal and great customer service. Here's a few pics with her running mates.
A couple from an HD broadcast of Madasgascar.

One from the mighty LA Lakers.

The picture out of the box is nothing short of amazing (although you couldn't tell from the pictures I took) and the sound from the Rockets are not too shabby either. I watched Bolt on Blu-Ray and I was floored how good the PQ and SQ was.

I plan on getting it pro cal'ed after the break in. Does anyone here have a reference setting I can use for the time being?

congrats and take a look at the first page of the settings thread above.
Also search this thread we are on and there are settings around from some of the senior members.

I'll try those settings after I finish with the break-in process.

from that aricle.

" It also doesn't include a USB input to directly view your JPEG digital photos from a flash drive (however, you can view them over a LAN via the Ethernet port)"

I wasn't aware of this. Does anyone know how this would work?

Is there any Pioneer Blu-ray demo discs out there for Signature 141?
Well after having to wait a extra week for the 141 to show up because the first one was shattered I am happy to say the second one arrived today in perfect shape.
The box looked perfect and so was the panel. I see no dse, blotches and no bad pixels.
I really want to give thanks to ROMAN O for being very professional and prompt on getting a second one shipped out. Excellent guy to work with.

Just setting it up and getting it all put back together but here is a pic. Break-in disk being run by none other than the new OPPO 83 player.

I brought up the break-in images again the other night to check out this dreaded DSE they talk about. No problems noticed here.

Robert from VE delivered a perfect 141 yesterday-absolutely incredible picture out of the box, can't wait for the break-in period to end and get it calibrated.

Here are some quick pics from my iPhone, will get better pics up as soon as I get a chance.

We used the Pioneer KRP-WM01 - Ultra Thin Wall Mount-very cool and closer to the wall than the previous Sanus Lo-profile I had up for the old Panny.

Finally, after one week of waiting, I have my 141 delivered safe and sound ....no just safe as there is no sound in it

Its been one hour running break-in dvd, no problems so far. Checked all the way and still exploring. Manufactured March 2009.

I have yet to install and setup my home cinema room. Its under construction but wanted to grab 141 first before its too late. A little glimpse of my 150 can also be seen.

I've also got KRP-TS01 table stand and KRP-WP01 for wall-mount

Taken from my Canon cybershot 750...

More pictures to follow with some real content.

Hey Sorry to sound like a Noob but I just got an 141fd and I can't find any settings to disable close captioning. I've looked all over the physical unit and the remote on screen settings, read the manual several times over and getting real frustrated.

Can someone help?

Thanks

Seeing as how the 141 does not have a internal channel tuner of any sort, it should not even have any settings for closed captioning any TV broadcast or cable signal. So perhaps you may want to check to see if you have your cable box or satellite receiver, DVD player, or whatever it is you are using for feeding the 141 with the signal, setup to output closed captioning.
The captioning came from the cable box and had to reboot the cable box and enter the service menu and disable captioning.

Thanks for the help.

Interesting, the box has french on it as well, so I assume you're in Canada like me, right? Anyhow, Congrats! Spanking good TV!

Same box we get in the USA.

Yes, in Edmonton, AB. I've got excellent price and service from the dealer. Initially, I was annoyed on them because of two days delay in delivery.

Anyways. I called Pioneer Canada today to check my 141. They shipped it on 30 Mar and delivered on 7 Apr.

I inquired about my serial number is not working in Elite Signature website. They said its too early. As panel manufactured in Mar 09 so it will take a couple of months my serial number to work.

As its stated on the certificate that phosphors already pre-aged by Pioneer, does that mean no need to run break in?
The 141FD is pre-aged by 100 hours. However, I still ran the break-in disc for 150 hours.

Watching the US Open today ... I am sure that there are very few sets on the market today that can reproduce the multitude shades of greens on that golf course like the 141FD! Stunningly beautiful!
I have my 141 for about 1 month now, amazed with the performance with Blu-ray however allot of my watching involves SD, as there is very little Hd content from our service providers here.

With that said, I was thinking of adding a Gefen Pro Scaler to my system.

It has HQV processing that converts everything to 1080p. What do you guys think? Anyone else using one of these allready? Not sure if it's quite available yet, but I am sure if it's coming from Gefen, it's got to be good, but not sure if it'll help the SD material.

let me know some of your opinions...

save your money. the pioneers have excellent processor/scaling. are you in the US? get directv HD package and buy more blurays.

still comes down to the source and scaling SD to faux HD can look pretty decent or still crappy sd it varies alot.
Fortunately here in Canada we have 2 satellite providers which have a wide variety of HD content from dramatic series to sports to nature and science programming. There are channels like HDNet, Oasis HD, Discovery HD and National Geographic HD that are HD 24/7. There is my HD than I have time to watch.

One thing that you will find with the 141FD is that it is very revealing in separating the quality HD broadcasts from the poor ones. Some do not look much better than good widescreen SD. However, a high quality HD broadcast looks spectacular on the 141FD ... approaching Blu-ray quality. The Masters is a great example of one of those quality broadcasts.
