I am also planning to install fall-prevention screws as per the WM01 instruction manual.

My bet is that you'll be fine with just the four screws, though the manual says eight? Sounds like your "two on each corner" comment was meant to imply two bolts side-by-side in the same stud? I don't think I'd do this, as it's generally recommended that you attach to the stud centerlines only.

Read the instructions, and make any adjustments you see fit...

Can anyone with the 141fd and using a 3800bdci tell me if I should be setting the hdmi resolution setting to "max" or "panel"? It may just be in my head that max looks better, but it seems logical that it really shouldn't matter which of these two settings I use! Thanks

EDIT: Hey, my one thousandth post!!!!

Happy to throw in my $0.02. As I already had my Peerless mount on the wall, I did not need to consider the WM01. If I were in the market for a mount, I'd seriously consider it though! I bet it looks great being that close to the wall.

Though my OneMount/141 combo sticks out a few inches from the wall (with a slight tilt downward, for a perfect perpendicular viewing angle from the couch), I still have access to the cables and wall outlets up high. So no need to remove the 141 from the wall for cable swapping, etc. I was even able to switch out my RS232 serial cable at the lower connection just a few days ago.

The following pic is viewing straight behind the TV, looking from right side. You can see my RS232 cable coiled up on the arm, which will be used for ControlCal when I have the time, hopefully later this week:

The next pic shows behind the upper panel, with the HDMI and power cables wall connections. You can also see my bias light, which I need to lower a bit for a more even light spread above and below:

Good luck with your mount, and err on the side of caution!

Thanks man! I PMed Turbe and he filled me in all the details and set me up. I should hopefully have my ControlCal stuff here soon.

Hi all,

This is my first post here. I currently have a Pioneer 110FD with which I am quite happy. I would like to go a little bigger. My viewing distance is 9 feet and is not very adjustable either way. I would also like to display some (not much) PAL content and I believe this monitor will do that. Does anyone have any advice as to whether this is a worthwhile upgrade? Has anyone done PAL and what are their impressions? Primary sources will be Blu Ray and upscaled Kaleidescape as well as HD cable.

Thanks!

I think it would totally be worth it. 9 feet distance is very good for a 60" display IMO.

Cant comment on the PAL, but I can say your Blu Ray and DVD will look great!

Thanks Vancouver. I was hoping you would answer as I had seen many of your posts on this thread. We live part time in White Rock, which is where this display will go. I have used Michael Chen's services before for my (much older) displays here in Edmonton. I will definitely look forward to setting this up to look its best after a little break-in. Any advice on a good source for this unit in the GVA?

Still waiting for ............ "the stand". Will pick up next week some time.

Also licking my wounds, so to speak, after the trade up $. Even so reading

the info on these forums I expect that I will be closer to realising the "promise"

of the Kuro potential.
You will love the stand! It is ultra easy to install and allows your eye level to be smack dab in the middle of the screen! Sweeeet!
As promised I said i would report back on my resent 141 purchase. So my 141 was just calibrated by the BB ISF, nice guy, he took about 1.5hrs. Although I had already unlocked the ISF-Day... he proceeded to calibrate Standard, and told me that the other settings were factory locked and that Standard offered the best set of features for calibration!!. Anyway he spent most of his time with the eye on the center of the screen, he told me the set was too blue and too red, he also said he had turned the temp down from over 100 to about 85 which would increase the life expectancy of the set. The picture does look good ( as I like as much pop as possible without going over), it has almost as much pop as dynamic. While watching Planet Earth I compared his Standard against ISF-Day (with D-Nice settings). Standard is bluer and brighter when looking at snow, in ISP-Day it is yellowish and redder compared to my now calibrated Standard. I was surprised when he said ISF settings are locked and should of probably shown him ControlCal which I have. Anyway my question is did the low level calibration that he did in the factory settings of the 141 effect all Av selections or only the Standard selection?
Thx Tech
Yes, you know it is I expect, the same as the base for the 150fd and I

admit that I like the look of many of the wall mount setups, however in my setting I

have no choice but to go with the stand on a "cart". I modified a "baker's cart" so that

when we are viewing it can be pulled foward from the wall as far as the cabling tethers

will allow and then back against the wall when the room is in the "audio only mode". Life

is full of comprimises.

And how did he do that? Turn the fan control from Auto to Max?

The 141 offers access to specific control over fan speed. I believe the instructions are on the manual

He's not of the hook yet, he wants me to help him build a HTPC (which I can do) so I will be expecting some more TLC I figure he doesn't know how to adjust the ISF modes or just doesn't want to. Anyway! does the low level calabration that he did cover all AV selections or does it need to be redone for each of them seperatly? As I can easily adjust contrast, brightness ect through ControlCal.

He doesnt have the ability to without ControlCal. I would ask for your money back and hire a real calibrator proven to know what to do. No offense but I think you just had "Minute Lube" tune your Ferrari.

Well it came as part of the deal I haggled with BB, so it didn't put me out of pocket. The one he said he did Standard does look very good. I will definetly get another ISF done in the near future.

I think you'll have to take his settings used in Standard mode, and you'll have to reinput them manually for all other modes (Pure, Sport, whatever). Though I don't think those will transfer equally as they all have different starting "baselines", or whatever the correct term is. Can someone else elaborate on that?

PLUS, he only did the settings for your Standard's input signal. If the TV was sensing a 1080p/60 signal (or whatever) during the calibration, you'll still need to update the Standard settings for input resolutions of 1080i, 1080p/24, 720p, etc.

Good that this didn't cost you directly. But I agree that you should get a "true" ISF calibration. And it won't be "another" one since the BB person never did anything to your ISF Day/Night settings to begin with.

How did BB calibrator change the settings - via the factory remote, or was it via a service menu? Do you know what kind of sensor he used? Just curious...

After months of research, I just ordered my Pioneer Elite Pro-141FD yesterday. Several of my friends couldn't believe I would buy a TV that didn't have sound. I told them I saw no reason to buy a TV with it.

There are still a few things I need to get before I install. By tomorrow I need to order a wall mount. It looks like I have two options; flat against the wall or tilting. I didn't think I needed tilting because plasma has a wide viewing angle but I may be wrong. Any recommendations? I would go with the Pioneer wall mount but at $350.00, it seems high to me.

Next I need sound. I do not have the budget for a home theater system (actually I do but it was hard enough to talk my wife into spending money on the Elite). So, I am looking at sound bars to start with. Any recommendations? I am headed out the door now to look at sound bars.

Oh one last thing. I was able to convince my wife we need this Elite so she could watch European TV shows over the Internet. I could hook a computer to the TV but I am trying to avoid displaying static images on the TV like my desktop. Is there another way of getting access to a web browser on the 141?

I use the Sanus wall mount, the 3b. It works great on my 141. Enjoy it. It is a great set.

I have aPeerless OneMount for our 141, which I had used previously with my 55" Hitachi. It is a tilting style, so your panel will stick out from the wall a few inches. I have mine locked in the first downward-tilting position so that the view from the couch is straight on (right angle to screen). This slight downward angle also helps avoid possible light fixture reflections in the ceiling above and behind the viewing position.

Though the screen is off the wall a few inches (more at the top than the bottom due to tilt), I still have access to my 141's connections (HDMI, power, RS232, etc) on the lower half, and plenty of room behind the top half for accessing my wall plates (HDMI, power, etc). See the attached pix if you want to see more...

Good luck!

Check out the new B&W sound bar.

Also in regards to mounts I have a list some in my first post that work with the 141.

Thanks, I will check it out. I also haven't ruled out going straight to a good home theater system even though it will blow my budget. Since I have already blown my budget on the TV. Why not?

I was going to get a 58" Panasonic or Sammy until I saw the Elite 141 and lost all will power. If Pioneer had not stopped making them, I probably could have resisted but knowing that they were being phased out pushed me over the edge.
