What's the price on the XBR8's?

I can tell you that there is no perfect television. There are televisions that are perfect for one's needs, but no one television is without faults.

I have long been looking for what I felt was the perfect TV. At this point I feel i have it with the 141. Even when I bought my fujitsu and at the time is was top of the line i never was totally satisfied with the picture because of black level and processing issue.

I have had a few absolute WOW issues with this 141 that I have never had with any display before.....and its not even calibrated yet.

2008:
Sharp 52D92 - Banding ... RMA'd to Sharp (something Pioneer should learn!)
Sharp 37" (720P... forgot model number) - Temporary TV but decided to go 1080P
Sharp 37GP1U - Temporary TV (part 2) in anticipation of Pioneer 150FD.
Pioneer Pro-150FD - Streaks/Buzz but I was willing to keep... until someone bought condo.
Pioneer 4280 - Temporary TV until I move to house... permanent for bedroom. (close to perfect)

So far... 6 TVs. - However in truth, I would have ended at TV #4 if I didn't sell the place.
Anyhow, I still believe there's a TV out there in perfect condition (No streaks/minimal Buzz)
for me. I'm hoping it's the 141FD...

PS - The Sony XBR8 is kinda not appealing now that the price has been revealed. I'd prefer a plasma anyhow.

I thought you had a Sony RP ... A3000?

Nope... my original quest was to replace the old CRT (tube) KV40XBR800 monster. The Pro-150FD was the winner in the long run.

Just a lil advice

Enjoy your wonderful display, I just wish they made a 50". I would definitely move my Pro950 into my sons room, and upgrade to it .

Already have the Pro151, and I am outside the return policy, so a 141 is unfortunately out of the question. Unless someone were interested in purchasing an ISF cal'd 151

JK! Me loves me 151!

Just added another SuperCubeII, and ordered a Velodyne SMS-1. Also replacing my A/V rack with a Middle Atlantic A/V rack with custom shelves, as my gear has respectfully outgrown my DIY'er.

The towers were close in because my wife wanted to see them that way. I angle them unobstructed towards me normally. Cosmetically, she would love to blow the towers up, but that ain't gonna happen. Neat thing is that with the center speaker being below the monitor, the 2 side's upper tweeters are creating a nice 3D sound field somewhere around the lower third of the picture. With my MFW-15 sub and 4 ceiling mount surrounds, we're in pretty good shape. At 130lbs, the MFW is one honking momma, and we're talking nuclear effects when needed.

For those who care to know....

Chief Mounts have updated their web site so now it is confermed that the
"PNRIW dual in-wall swing arm" mount with the 2043 bracket will fit the PRO 141-FD!

This mount along with the bracket that holds the TV to the mount brings the 141 just 1.52" out from the wall when retracted. The power outlet is hidden inside the PAC501 box.

Sony is officially crazy! The MSRP for the XBR8 55" is $6999!

My 141 FD is STILL lying against the wall, and I think I was one of the first to get one

I ordered the Pioneer stand for table mounting at the same time, but it still has not shown up at the distributor...

I am getting weak and was going to overnight a wall mount in but missed the amazon PRIME shipping deadline for Friday... oh well. There are some local dealers, but they want to charge full retail price + tax for brackets... $240.00 for the Sanus LPM3 (when everyone sells it for about $160.00 shipped, total cost)... I'd pay $30.00 extra locally, but I can't stand paying $100.00 more for no good reason... Oh well... damn Pioneer stand just hosed my enjoyment...

Roman,

Does the 151FD or the 150FD tabletop stand work with the 141FD?

You know I was told yes, but I have not been able to confirm myself, others have said yes on here as well. Its hard for me to get a 151 and a 141 in the same room, you can guess why

if that is the case, that would be great because it is easy to find used or unused stands on ebay for cheap rather than shell out 300-400 for the brand new one that is specified by pioneer

Just an update. I gave a $500 deposit to cement the price and I'll pick the TV
up sometime in January. I also have the flexibility to put it towards another TV
if I change my mind later on.

Like I said, we're talking a rather huge discount, so I wanted to guarantee the price.
Also, 101's are coming soon!!

So you just paid through the nose for a premium fp, but won't dish out the 100 bucks to enjoy it?! Oh the irony!

Yes they are! (I'll be even more excited if the other half lets me replace the Pro950 in the br with it) Right Roman! lol

I think you are in a great situation. Did you get to inspect any panels (any on display?)
Well, my 141 arrived yesterday. The box was in excellent shape save for one small hole in back rear of box.

I open the box today only to discover to my horror that the panel is severely damaged. There are multiple cracks in the glass across the panel. There are a couple of spots where the black film under the glass is scraped off and at least small area where it appears that the cells have sloughed off.

The bezel and rest of panel is in pristine shape as far as I could tell (I did not remove the panel from the base of box). Very weird.

Bummer.

Luckily, my dealer promises to get back to me on Monday. Also, I would not be able to install and enjoy the tv for a few more weeks anyway.

In short, make sure you open the box and inspect your panel asap.

Other than that, how does it look?
Heh.

It looks beautiful. I'm not a fan of glossy black bezels but both my wife (who HATES them) and I loved the look. Well, at least in my garage we did.

And it's almost too bad I need to send it back. The panel is worthy of a Viking Funeral.

No, I decided not to. I figured it's not right to do so if I don't intend on picking one up today.

It's actually probably 'less right' of your dealer to let you do it in the first place.

Good call. It will be interesting to see what you eventually choose come January. It looks like the LD-LCDs may be over hyped and overpriced.

Yep, it will be very interesting to see... it's already very interesting with the HDGuru's report about 65" Panasonic Primier 65VX100, that is as black as Kuro 8G... hopefully for the same or very close street price 65" almost guaranteed no buzz, no streaks and blotches...

At an MSRP of $10,000, the street price is still going to be STEEP. I think I'm just going to go with a 141 and be done with it.
