if the game completely overwhelms you, that's normal. also be prepared to die like a fly about every 5 seconds when you start playing online.

I advise you to buy a coffee at barnes and noble and spend a half hour reading the msg4 game book. Or actually, you toys r us has all game guides for 50% off today tuesday 16th, and tomorrow wed 17th (limited suppies, no rainchecks)
info thread here:
http://www.**************/forums/hot-...ord1=toys+r+us

The game is so complex you'd be 1000% better off getting the guide right off the bat.

There's sniping rifles, handguns, grenades, tranqulizer guns, etc, but also not the close quarter combat moves (cqc). These are a bit more arcane. They take a lot of timing and patience--patience in the sense that the moves take time to perform, and when you start performing one you lose real time control of the charactor for a few seconds awhile he performs the action, so timing and time management is key.

The cqc moves are listed in-game in a settings screen, but you can learn them by watching this video too:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uwa-7wHCC-4

key things to know:
press r3 (right analog stick as button) to change the angle you are viewing from. It greatly helps moving around corners awhile aiming, and lets you shoot from more angles from rooftops.

When I was a ps3 noob I couldn't figure out how to use bluetooth in MSG4. it ends up you press the select button for a few seconds to turn the talk on or off. When you are in the ps3 settings to pair your bluetooth, also back out and go down two menu settings to make sure the sound is set to channel through the bluetooth.

Oh, and if you play the regular game (not online) and set the dificulty to 'easy' you are somewhat invincible. It is good to practice close quarter combat (cqc) and other complex moves on whimpy non-online guys. ...will save you a lot of time and frustration.

oh, and headshots equal instant kills, always go for the head.

the mk2 handgun tranquilizes people ifyou headshot. and same with the long range sniper rifle mosit naugit? or soemthing like that.

Oh, and go to the playstation store and download demos. Start with Bioshock. if you like it they have it at best buy for $40 instead of $60(probably for a day or two).

bioshock will take a few hours to download so start quick. you'll likely like it and want it at $40. It's one of the more pricey games I own

thx cow, 'preciate it. it'll take awhile to get to it tho.
I gotta get thru Orange Box first (hadnt played any of it previously); and frankly, I aint that good (but I am persistent).

an afterthought (doesn't sound like you were going to do it anyway)

Toys r us online doesnt appear to have the msg4 guide.. that prolly mean they dont have it in store??

..sounds like a good plan. it's hard to play orange box after msg4. I haven't plad video games (for the most part) 20 years. Learning fps in mgs4 online was quite brutal and punishing. I still have emotional twitches when playing the game from noob 101 days.

Strange Panasonic Remote concept

"This may be the strangest remote control we’ve ever seen. With the push of a button, this remote becomes rigid and ready for use.
When it’s not in use, this concept remote just sort of lays there limp, pulsating with light. But when you touch it, the remote gets excited and becomes rigid."

It's all but impossible to not notice a phallic interpretation, but I don't think it's fair as the only metaphoric interpretation. My first thoughts were that it was like an animal that has been trained to do a task but dozes off napping when not needed. Of course thinking of as a trained, dozing electric pet 7 out of 8 times and occasionally as a phallis would render it a disturbing remote over all.
