If it is just a spindle weight it will not work well, although you may get some benefit from damping. If you are trying to flatten some warp out of an LP, it takes more weight than can be achieved by a weight alone, at least one that you could safely set on your turntable.
Most of the good tables are using (if not vacuum) a clamp, not a weight, that screws on to a threaded spindle to achieve greater pressure. Many even give the platter a slight "dish" or lip at the edge to create a tight and even interface between the LP and platter. Weights are usually tweaks sold separately as an add on and seldom work as well.
