Selling a PS3 - questions about hard drive.

I'm thinking of selling my 60 GB Playstation 3 which has the PS2 compatibility. I have a couple of questions about selling a game system:

1.) I registered the system with Sony so what happens when I sell the system to someone else? Can I contact Sony and tell them to clear my registration info?

2.) Even though I can do a complete system restore do I still need to worry about someone accessing my billing info on the HD? Is it unreasonable to sell it without the hard drive to be safe?

3.) Based on the demand for this rare console (the PS2 compatibility, the memory card readers, etc.) would asking for $500 be too much?

By the way, I'm selling it due to having little to none fun time anymore, the system in great condition. Besides, I know some people wish they had the PS2 backwards compatibility feature.

Thanks for any help!

None of your Billing info or PSN ID (address..etc.) info is stored on the Hard Drive. It's on Sony's servers, this is the reason you can sign in on different PS3 with your PSN ID and still have access to your PSN funds, and previous purchases..etc.
500 Seems a bit much to me, for a console that they havent made in almost a year. IF it's out of warranty, it would be a big gamble for someone to spend that kind of loot just for the backwards compatibilty. I personally wouldnt spend that kind of money on a used non-warranty machine. But to each his own, you never know you might get lucky.

You can ask whatever you want, but the question is whether you find a buyer.
for just the PS3 and what comes in the box (SixAxis, etc.) I think $500 will be a little high. Ebay seems to price them around $425-450. $500 is about the going rate for unused systems.

For $500 I'd rather pick up a MGS4 bundle new and just have 80% BC. If you want the most money from your system you should consider craigslist so that you don't get hit with the eBay and PayPal fees.
