I just bought a new Aquos and connected the cable box via HDMI cable.
I have a couple of questions:

1. How do I change the size of the picture to FULL screen?
2. How do I change from 480p to 1080p?

I looked at the manual a few times but could not find the section to fix my issues.

HELP!!!

What's the make/model of the cable box?
Have you looked at the video setup/options of the cable box?

For assistance with the settings on your Display, the Flat Panel LCD section would be your best bet. If you need help with the STB, post the make and model as Ratman suggested.

I have the Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4250 Box.

The cable box does not support 1080p output.
Set the cable box for "upconvert 1"

I can't get to the General Settings on the box. I followed the directions by pressing the Settings button twice.

I just got this same cable box. Press "Settings" twice, and then scroll up to "Set: Picture Format".

Hope that works. It did for me.

I'm glad I found this thread too...I thought I was going crazy with the STB not automatically adjusting to the proper format.
