Any info as to HD telecasts for Kings and Ducks?
All of the home games for both teams on FSN West will be HD --- likely many (50%+) away games.

This is pretty much the story for all of the FSNs - Detroit, Pitsburgh, North (Minnesota), West (L.A.) South (Dallas), Arizona, Florida, Atlanta, St. Louis, Bay Area.

FSN West televises the Los Angeles Kings

FSN Prime Ticket televises the Anaheim Ducks
post #4 of 309
Yes, you are correct. My original post should include Prime Ticket and still applies.

Comcast Sportsnet Philly did a good job with HD away games during the playoffs. I hope they can do the same for the upcoming regular season.
And hopefully CSN Mid-Atlantic keeps adding more Capitals away games in the future.

I would put the number of away games in HD well over 50%.

Will you be developing a spreadsheet of HD games like you did for baseball? Your efforts are very much appreciated!

Me too, but 50% was my conservative estimate.

As you probably know, the home games planning and scheduling is further along than the away games.

I might, but that would still be at least a month away.
Btw, this information also applies to NBA games for the FSNs.
iirc, the Blackhawks are doing all of their games in HD this year.

Oh really? Atlanta is the only team in the league that has yet to broadcast a game in HD. Now all of a sudden our cheap ownership will be putting half (or more) of our games in HD? Color me shocked. Heck, they still only broadcast about 65 games per year and leave nearly 20 games untelevised entirely.

With all due respect, I take your opinion with a big ol' grain of salt. (The Thrashers are not carried on FSN; they're on SportSouth).

Yes, REALLY.

...and the name doesn't matter a whole lot. It is STILL owned and managed by the Fox Sports Net group.

Is it true that Blackhawks games on WGN will be Chicago only and not on the national feed? That would suck if true. Although maybe it's not a big deal since I don't think WGN HD is on any U.S. carrier yet.

I'll believe it when I see it, there was precious little HD for the Hawks last year let alone the Thrashers, although now that D* has full-time HD channels for FSN South and SportSouth I'm more hopeful that they'll feel compelled to provide some content this fall and winter

I believe it now. homcom's and my history on predicting the HD coverage of the FSNs has been pretty solid.

FSN has opened a large master control facility in Houston since last year.

MSG and MSG Plus will have the majority of Rangers, Devils, Islanders and Knicks home and away games in HD. Only non-HD games planned are those carried on the alternate/overflow channels MSG-2 and MSG Plus-2, which cable/satellite/telco operators only provide SD channels for.
And all games carried by Verizon are in SD. Guitar Jimmy's company hasn't been legislated to give another private competitor its unique selling proposition - yet.
MSG/Buffalo Sabres - all home HD, away HD TBD.
itll be nice if all boston's games are hd this year...the contrast between the feed from montreal vs boston in last years playoffs was jarring to say the lease. CBC up here was showing some absolutely horrific looking SD 16:9 junk, not even upscaled, on the ice and then whenever it would cut to an interview or a closeup of the on air talent it looked gorgeous...

all the habs home games are also full hd as well..hell it wouldnt surprise me if the netcams in the bell centre were hd this year...hahaha

all in all between the godawful picture from pittsburgh and boston i was less than impressed by the quality of the broadcasts from several nhl rinks last year...

Any word on FSN South coverage of the Hurricanes? I know they upped the number of games they would do for this season (still not all of them though), but so far the only HD games we get are when FSNS gets to piggyback HD from the other teams crew.

Also how will the fulltime HD feeds work, since I know FSNS also carries Predators games in other markets? Would both be available to their market if there are games on the same night?

I'm not sure if this would be the place to post this, but...

I had the NHL Centre Ice package last year with TWC NY, and was disappointed that none of the channels were HD, although almost all of the broadcasts were available in HD. Does anyone know if NHL Centre Ice on TWC will have any HD offerings? I tried emailing TWC, but haven't heard anything back in almost 2 weeks. I am trying to decide if I want to purchase the package again this year.

The only HD games I got last year were the Thursday or Saturday games on HDNet.

If your local TWC adds Team/Game HD, you will get 1 or 2 games a night from either the NBA HD or NHL CI in HD. Go to www.indemand.com to find more info about Game/Team HD.

Fox Sports Net Arizona will be broadcasting a whopping 10 Phoenix Coyote games in HD.

10 HD games has been the norm for the past few years now.

Depends what area of NY.

Parts of TWC NY added GAMEHD a few months ago. This normally shows 1/2 HD games a night (currently used for MLB Extra Innings - NHL Center Ice uses the same channels)

So - if you are in Brooklyn/Queens/SI (or any other part of the country that gets GAMEHD) - then you have the HD channel.

(also - you'll also get all VersusHD games - all of TWC NY/NJ got that channel at playoff time back in April)
