I will second post here. Have had my 46a950 for about a week and have been lovin every minute of it. It is extremely sharp and bright (which I love).

Three pics. Disregard the bright spots or blue spots in each picture, that is the camera flash. You have to see the tv in person, it is so clear.

Third pic especially shows how black the tv gets when watching a widescreen movie.

Or just place a piece of tape (or a sticky note) over the flash.

Wow, those pics are beautiful. The black levels are very impressive. I'm torn. Do I want a Kuro or do I want the 950? Or do I wait (seems like forever) for the XBR8 for a comparison?

I currently have the 750 40" and I can confidently say the black levels are noticably better in the 950.

Slumpey, if you're able, we need to see some dark room pics and like dave said, some off-angle viewing pics. Maybe a shot of the end of movie credits in a dark room to test how truly black the 950 is.

Slumpey your a good person thanks for taking pictures, I love the first one flushed away since it shows this tv produces amazing colors and color more than anything excites me about my new tv, I'll be getting the 46 incher in a couple months when I move and I'm very very excited.

I finally took some more pics for the enjoyment of some and criticism of many.

I used the cnet settings that were posted in one of the four different threads dedicated to these televisions. I also took the pics in two different angles as you can see by the file descriptions. The last pic is with the cnet settings but I turned led motion plus on.

Great pics. Like I said in one of my posts from today on a NON official (wink*) 950 thread, the colors and black levels are fierce when viewed either dead on or a little off axis. However, there is a lot of blooming when viewed moderate to way off axis. Color didn't wash out as bad as I was expecting however.

AND, this set is SO BRIGHT and sharp, omg. amazing.

I used the DVE disc to adjust my settings. I wasn't to happy with the look the cnet settings were giving the set. I would like to see what everyone else is using. FYI these are the settings I'm using while watching a blu-ray.

btw those two other cars pic were taken from the Pioneer Kuro Elite and a Panny Z850. no doubt the the 950 looks just as great(although not as sharp looking as the Kuro pic) straight on at 90degrees, but in that 50degrees pic, the blooming is clearly visible and pretty large I gotta say. I don't always sit directly in front of the tv at center so that could be a big problem. I really dig the deep blacks but I don't know if I could live with the blooming. oh well...

Thanks guys. I think I've almost made up my mind. Looking at diabolyte Kuro picture and comparing it to the 950, the clear winner in my mind is the Kuro. Look how detailed and sharp that Kuro is compared to the smudgy Panny and the 950.

The 950 comes close when looking straight on, but the off-axis blooming problem and the blueish black horizon is just unacceptable in my mind.

Is it worth an $1800 premium for a Kuro Elite over the 950? That is the question I have to answer for myself. Or maybe wait until the XBR8s are out.

Spenbrad, could you take a picture off-axis with the Smart LED off as a comparison with Smart LED on?

Someone had mentioned on another thread that the off-axis blooming problem goes away when you turn off the Smart LED backlighting.

Can someone test the Game mode on these TVs and tell us if the image adjustments are available and what the input lag is?

Nice, shows how better the blacks are over the A750.
It's kinda hard to compare with the plasma shots since they look like they were taken at lower resolution or resized & caused those artifacts.

Anyone recommend best camera settings for doing this?
I am not happy with quality of pics, but wanted to get something posted.
I think a dark room is good, but maybe I go with using better camera? Maybe tripod?

OK, after over 100 pics shot last night...I can say the camera I was using does NOT do justice to pictures. I might have to break out my camera, but trying to use the PS3 Remote and holding a Canon XTi is going to be fun

So, I have a few, but I'm not going to lie...the camera lacks detail and adds a moire pattern in some. But hey, gotta start somewhere.

This was shot with HP 840 with flash off. Hard to tell where black bars are and TV (or wall)...
Detail on this shot is fantastic. Shows blacks like no other TV (again, as pmp mentions...camera and file size doesn't do justice). Bessie's detail is amazing, and I think I was standing under two feet away. One other good thing...you don't see any banding on smoke in this - well in real life you don't

Game mode limits most adjustments.
I can try tonight for lag.

Here is a picture of Red...some nice colors and blacks. The picture doesn't do justive on this one. Lizzie looks amazing with detail and blacks but in picture, she is a little washed out... not much though.

(Yes, I know almost every character's name in the movie...you watch it enough with kids...it gets stuck in your brain) LOL
