No, it's not a short. Yes, I'm sure. My receiver, a Harmon Kardon AVR 210, shuts down during loud scenes in movies. It doesn't have to be movies, I tried music too and it shuts down when it get a bit loud too. I've had this receiver for 7yrs and I haven't change anything. A few days ago, it just decided to stop working. *note: when I say loud, I mean it in a relative sense. loud in this case is barely audible.
