Anyone know if it exist on DVD or HD download anywhere? I found a number of version on youtube but there are not very good quality. I would like to include it in my HT intro.

Thank you!

As far as I can tell, I need to purchase Toast for my MAC to assemble these into a DVD image.

If anyone has a lower cost way to do this, please let me know.

Get a conversion program called Super, its free and converts everything.

I just tried a few programs and was able to convert the VOB for Stomp and WOW to DVDs - neither played in DD, both in pro-logic. Can anyone confirm that these files as downloaded contain AC3 (DD) encoding and not 2 channel stereo?

Amazing site!

I downloaded many of these trailers last night to fill the holes in my collection and I can confirm that most do have 5.1 encoded in the .vob. They play great on both of my computers. There are a few only in stereo, but the site tells you what kind of audio is in the file right next to where you click to download it.

Another thing I was wondering (dbbarron) is why did you convert from .vob to "DVD" and what exactly do you mean by "DVD"? I'm thinking it was in this conversion that you somehow lost the 5.1 audio.

.vob stands for video object and is the MPEG2 container used on standard DVDs. You don't have to convert the files at all, just fire them up in Power DVD, TheaterTek, or whatever. If you want a hard copy I'm sure Nero or your program of choice can burn them as is and generate some kind of menu/chapter structure.

Finally, I second the recommendation of Super for video encoding. I've only been using it for a week or two but it's amazing how flexible it is, and it's free!

Magius:

I have two playback options in my HT:

(1) Blue-ray (so I must encode to a hard DVD); or
(2) AppleTV; so I must encode to a mp4 file.

My computer is not attached to my HT.

I have been playing with 'free' encoders and none seem all that sophisticated. I suspect they are all reencoding down to stereo. Will try Super for creating AppleTV files.

You can burn the VOB's direct to a DVD in the VIDEO_TS folder, most DVD authoring software will do this.

The PS3 plays all these, the m2ts only play using the sony decoder, on the mac you can download the Nightly Build of VLC and it will play.

If there are many who are interested I would be happy to convert them over to MP4 or another common format for you. It would not be a difficult task, I converted the STOMP one over to Mpeg-2 in about 10 min.

Crapped out with the Apple TV. In order for it to pass DD, you have to encode the DD as AC3 (no big deal), but the MOV (or .MP4 or M4A) wrapper has to have both a 2 channel AAC sountrack and a 5.1 AC3 sountrack which is passed out the toslink on the apple TV - Need to use final cut or other expensive authoring software to do this.

So, as I have no other authoring software (other than Shrink which will not accept VOB files directly, only off a DVD), I will have to purchase Toast. I can use that for other stuff also..
