Finally in my New House...basement plans - Page 6

It's still very flat, even after a year the edges have not curled and
the few small creases I first noticed (likely from sitting rolled up too long) have all but vanished now.

most recent pic:

I'll see if I can get the original full sized shot, uncompressed, and throw up a link to it tomorrow.

There's a very slight wave that's just barely noticeable with the PJ turned off,
with an overhead light turned on...otherwise it's not an issue while playing movies.

You cant expect perfect for $250 (shipped to your door) though,
So I 'm not saying its the best solution for everyone and unless you need a drop down screen, a fixed screen would likely be better in the long run.

I would have gone with a Wilson Art DW Laminate if I didn't have my TV on that wall. I even had access to a free 5'x12' from our cabinet guy.

How did you find the screen installation? Is there any offset or any room to negotiate to install the top bar giving that ceiling joists in different houses are of different distance apart?

There is a bracket on each end with a single hole to hang from a hook, or to mount flat to a wall.
I hooked one of these on each end, clipped to a small eye hook screwed into 2"x4" blocking that spans between the joists.

I'd be surprised if the entire assembly weighed more than 25 lbs,
so a couple good drywall anchors would be fine if you cant hit a truss/joist.

This pic shows some banding due to being reduced/compressed,
but if you click on it, it will open a full size uncompressed original high res photo

.

Here's a couple more shots to show how well my screen works with ambient light in the room (a couple floor lamps turned on, Golf Channel in HD)

that is totally ridiculous how good that pj looks.....i am actually in awe with your pj. i have been asking like crazy all over about a comparison of your pj and the 8500UB and the panny 4000U. your 1080UB seems like the perfect pj for me.your pics are amazing.

is your pj calibrated?

Assassins Creed on my new home cinema is awesome
post #158 of 204
I have to agree with Kimwyn. It's insane ( ) how good your pj screen shots look on a monitor that's not even calibrated.

I'm still enjoying your setup man

Great looking theater! I do have to admit it was a little scary looking at the pics of your house - a friend of mine has the exact same house/ floor plan in Ellerslie Crossing. I lived with him for a few years while my house was being built. Your pics brought back a lot of memories!

Again, looking great so far.

your house is pretty cool i guess
Wow ! Those are some of the most amazing draw dropping screen shots yet!
Well, Its been said already but your screenshots are unreal. I just ordered a panny 4000u and I can only pray that my clarity will even come close to that of yours.. Very nice setup and home!!
Those screen images are beautiful.
Omg yo, you do not need no 8500UB, your projector looks just as good if not better. you should post them in the 8500UB thread just for fun. lol..

I decided on a 106" Cinewhite screen form Elite. Also, I decided on the Panny AE4000. there are way to many issues with the 8500UB. Maybe I should get a used or new leftover 1080UB.

You're very decisive, aren't you?

I'm adding a projector to my setup and it had boiled down to the the Panasonic AE3000U, the AE4000U and the Epson 1080UB. The Epson is nowhere to be found online and the AE4000U is a bit out of my price range at this time, so looks like the AE3000U for me. Nice 1080UB, i'm a bit jealous lol.

PioManiac--Looks great. I would love to see some more pics of the house too. Looking to build a new home in a couple years and that looks exactly like what mama wants.
I have to say this is one of my favorites on this site. Keep up the good work.
I'm looking to buy a 1080UB can anybody point me to where I can get a good deal?
Great looking screen shots, I think I will be buying one of those screens for my Marantz PJ and hopefully get similar results.

Anyone else want a screen? Maybe we can get a group buy?

EDIT: I completely forgot to ask, where is the plug located for the screen, I want to run a outlet to the correct location.

[quote=PioManiac;14917454]Installed my 50" Plasma on the wall with a Sanus full motion articulating mount (VMAA18B)

I am looking at the VMAA26 Sanus mount. However, the area where I need to mount the TV is higher than my optimal viewing height location of the TV.

I would like to flip the arched arm. But then NOT flip the TV mount brackets. It looks totally possible, but I've not seen one in person or assembled one. Are you able to look at your mount and let me know if you think that the arched arm could be installed upside down - thereby lowering the completed height of the television?

Thanks!

I read the saga of your home theater install front to back. Just wanted to join the long list of appreciative, financially limited, audio-video nuts by saying great job...on the theatre and on your detailed posts. I was flip-flopping between plasma and projection, but after seeing your room set-up and screen shots I'm taking the plunge. Even the wife was convinced. She will just have to learn to knit in the inky black ;-). My room size is similar to yours but the viewing wall will only allow a 92" diagonal. A new acoustically tranparent fixed frame screen is patiently waiting in it's box for me to paint everything black and build a wall unit for mounting. Thanks again, and I look forward to any updates you may have.

You got those pictures from a Epson 1080UB and a powered drop down 120" screen that you got on ebay for $250?

Guess I should pop in and check on my own build thread occasionally ?
I suppose the "build" that wasn't really a build, kind of slipped into obscurity for a while.

The room, and the equipment have remained unchanged for a LONG time now as my attention turned to outdoor chores (landscaping),
recreational activities and generally wasting money on much bigger more expensive toys like motorcycles and trucks.

...and Yes my nearly 2 y/o Epson 1080UB is still going strong on the original lamp it shipped with.
I still have the freebie spare lamp waiting patiently to replace it when the time comes.

Just last weekend we watched my Avatar Bluray (again) to Demo my HT for a Bud that's never seen the movie,
or what a Home Theater can do for an unused corner of his basement (He's a TV guy).

If I get a chance I'll throw up some new screen shots with my crappy point and clicky digi cam over the weekend.
If you don't here back from me, I can be found shoot'n the poop in Kipp's Cocktail Lounge occasionally : http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=153368

I Just noticed the date, exactly 4 year's ago I bought my very First HDTV , a Pioneer PDP5070HD Plasma
and I signed up here just a few days later to read up on what the best settings were.
It's still going strong too, and serves as our Master Bedroom TV...get's used at least 4-5 hours a day.

Since reading your original thread months ago I have built my own theater. Thanks again for the initial motivation. Was hoping that your room was quietly evolving but passions and priorities do change in life don't they. 4-5 hours in the bedroom watching tv? There's better places to watch tv...and better activities for the bedroom. Do you use the theater much any more? Still happy with the setup; sound and image size? If you get a chance I would love to see some more screen shots.
Thanks.

I have to tell you, you are the sole reason I am interested in projectors now...

Well, you and the pics you took...

Did you run those pics through Photoshop or any photo editing software before posting them? Or did you just take them and post them?

Because, quite frankly, I am having a very hard time finding a projector that looks half as good as those pics you posted...
