Well almost a year since I updated this thread, and my PJ's 3rd Birthday is this Friday! Wow that went fast!!!
I finally installed my Freebie Spare Lamp in June/2011, after almost 3000 hours...and that's all that's changed in 3 years, until now.
Summer Drag Race season is over once again, and with Winter just around the corner it's time to prepare for Winter Hibernation in the Man-Cave once again.
My 13 second Ram has traded her Drag Radials for Winter shoes and I had to haul my drag slicks inside because they cant be cold stored.
Next year upgrade list will include a Ripp supercharger (+150HP) and shooting for 11's or better.
The room itself is still the same but I added LOTS of new toys,
Lowes had Bogo deal on a Danby mini-bar fridge and micro wave combo for handy mix/drinks, ice and snacks.
The front face of the fridge is matt black ...and refreshments are almost within an arms reach now
instead of having to hit pause and run up stairs to the kitchen every 15 minutes.
Martini Station, laptop and storage for remotes/game controllers
..also picked up a freebie Kettle Popper from work (was a showhome prop)
But better yet, I also found a clearance priced 15" Velodyne sub for almost half price on the weekend,
The DLS-5000R has been discontinued so I couldn't pass up an additional 1000 watts of Ground-Pounding LFE
It started in the left rear corner and I could tell instantly the left biased lows were throwing my room off.
I guess there's no need to corner load the Big 15" Beast so the best way to balance the room was moving it right behind my center chair.
Wow!!! I love it! not only does it shake the whole house, it also gives all three seats a built in butt kicker!
after a quick calibration, and turning the new 15" ground-pounder down several times to level 40,
about the same as my pair of Velo DPS-12's front subs...It was time to drop the big screen down to demo the latest Transformers Bluray.
I didn't get many of the high action fight scenes because my Jaw was on the Floor the entire time and couldn't be bothered to stop and shoot pic's
I also re-watched Iron Man and War of the Worlds (again)
O-M-G that's some serious LFE Pounding my house took for a normally quiet Sunday afternoon!
Almost 2000 watts of Sub Bass in a 2000 cubic foot room = LFE Bliss!!! even at modest volume (level -20 on my AVR) I can easily hit 110 db
recent updates....(rOcktober 2012)
My latest non "Theater" related additions... but still somewhat Man-Cave worthy,
.....a Gibson Les Paul Studio (Worn Brown Maple/Mahogany) Butterscotch Blonde Telecaster, Aspen Green Gretsch ,
and Twin Taylor's, a 12 String Grand Symphony and a 6 String Grand Auditorium
Being somewhat new to Electric Guitars I didn't want to dive too deep into an expensive tube amp until I discovered what kind of tone I was looking for,
But I couldn't resist the old school look, the sound or the price tag on the Fender Pawn Shop series Excelsior...for just $299! What a little Gem!
and like my guitars, it even matches my rooms color scheme (little black humidifier on the right replaced my retired p.o.s. popcorn machine)
Just right of the Tele is my Line 6 Spider Jam 75 digital modeler and a Roland AC60 acoustic chorus amplifier.
Gibson Les Paul Studio worn brown satin finish
American Special Strat in 3 color sunburst, and my old Takamine Dreadnaught
New Strat to the pack , a Clapton style "Blackie" and with any luck I'll have another blues axe soon... a Gibson ES-335,
Hercules guitar hangers = Awesome! and my little Martini Bar currently stocked with KAH Tequilla in collectable hand painted skull bottles
