That would be Secret Saturdays. Most likely the new Batman series will be in HD too then.

At least The Clone Wars is letterboxed for those of us currently stuck with SD. (Thanks, Comcast.) The SD channel says Available in High Definition at the beginning of the show.

Wow Cartoon network with actual HD!!!!!!!!!

Amazing. Looks very good.

Awesome!!!!! I wasa really doubting Clone wars being in HD, but I am soooo happy CN came through! Now, hopefully everything that is produced in HD will be shown in HD. Venture Bros!!! Love the new bug too
post #65 of 219
I wish the bug was more transparent and smaller.

Not perfect, but I liked it.

Nice very Nice.

I wasn't disappointed, but the kids struggled with the late hour and the commercials. Looks like this will go on the DVR and wait until Saturday to watch. The animation was top notch, nice and fluid with great palettes.

I DVRed it because I had to get groceries... but saw a few minutes of the previous show "Secret Saturdays" and noted not only the new HD logo but compared Cartoon Network HD with the SD counterpart. "Secret Saturdays" was shown on the SD channel with a center-cut from the widescreen.

With my Dish receiver I was able to side-by-side compare, and it was nice to see the widescreen HD version had extra detail and was not just a zoom to fit trick.

I saw a little of Star Wars with the sound off, to see that it was HD too... but will watch later to rate the show itself.

I consider myself epically surprised that we got actual HD for the first time tonight. I hope this will be a sign of things to come.

Did anyone see CLONE WARS on the SD channel? What was the aspect ratio?

I was disappointed to see that the HD broadcast was in 16:9. I'm pretty sure it was produced in 2.35:1.

is it on again? i completely forgot about it

Cartoon Network HD is, in and of itself, a walking talking false advertisement that HD will be on the channel since thus far none has.

I will be pleasantly surprised if Clone Wars is in actual HD... but nonetheless it will be an epic surprise.

So, as it turns out you were wrong, and you also miss the point.

so they showed 2 episodes last night?
Yes. It's also available on iTunes, and they're gonna be up on the Star Wars and Cartoon Network websites.
It's about what I expected after watching the movie. Animation is decent for TV.

Wish the Cartoon Network bug was less annoying, but hopefully it'll go semi-transparent soon, or at least not be that bright gold that makes it really stand out on dark backgrounds. Also, hopefully it won't be so distracting once the "Series Premiere" part goes away....that part was pushing the bug 1/3 of the way across the bottom of the screen (I measured).

What was I wrong about? What point did I miss? And what, pray tell, is the reason for attacking me about it?

All I ever said was (and please check my previous posts to verify):

1. I'd seen nothing prior to Friday to make me believe I would see HD on Friday. No tests of programming in HD.
2. If anything might be HD, Star Wars might be since Lucas had been rumored to make sure his live-action movies aired on HBO/MAX in original aspect which is something those channels don't always do.
3. I would be epically surprised to see actual HD on Cartoon Network.

And so... I posted, after Friday's airings, that I was in fact epically surprised. So you didn't "catch" me in any trap.

I enjoyed it. I watched the second episode with my 5 year old (who is heavily into Star Wars). The PQ in HD was amazing. I especially thought the Ion Cannon blast was very well done.

I have to admit though that I was a little surprised when the they showed the "Pod Hunter" grew cutting open the escape pod and "spacing" all of the individuals inside. It seemed pretty grim and not something that I wanted my 5 year old to be watching. We had watched (and enjoyed) the Clone Wars movie together but this seemed a little more "adult" to me.

Anyone else think so?

I think thats part of the reason for the time slot. There's a lot of clones getting taking out. Even in the Clone Wars movie, a lot of clones died.

I watched the preview for the first episode on iTunes, and it was in 16:9 as well.

Can anyone confirm the aspect ratio of the SD broadcast? Is it 16:9 or 2.35:1? Thanks.

but they still do replays in an earlier timeslot on wednesday:
episode 1 wed 7:00pm
episode 2 wed 7:30pm

So I noticed that they showed the adultswim shows in letter-box squash mode last night. They were repeats so I'm hoping that they show the new episodes tonight in HD, if not then it only appears that only those Friday night shows will be in HD, as far as I can tell.

Same here... also noted that they premiered Batman Gotham Knights in similarly squished mode. At least I own the Blu ray of that so I didn't care.

Unfortunately, now that CN has proven they can air quality HD when/if they want... it just makes it that much more glaring of an absence the other 99% of the time.
Is it me or is the replay on right now in Panoramic view? The sides seem to pan.
Yeah, that looks incredibly not right. It looks fine on the SD channel, though.
yeah, they are not showing it in Hd, go figure. Guess only the premiere episodes on Friday nights will be in true HD. There goes my expectations for them airing season 3 repeats of The Venture Bros in HD

Figured there would be activity here!

Sadly, looks like the re-airing tonight is in unglorious stretch-o-vision... and no HD logo either. Pretty bad when they just aired a show 2 nights ago in HD and can't re-air even that in HD again!

I feel bad for the folks who scheduled DVRs for tonight thinking it would be the same as Friday... and am glad I DVRed Friday night.
When are the HD, non-stretched versions of clone wars airing? And what channel? The ones tonight looked awful.
Yeah, missed it on Friday and DVR'd it tonight. Looked like crap in stretched 2.35:1. Non-linear stretch, too, making it unfixable.
