Hi guys do you know if this will pass audio/video in standby mode. I have a ps3 and dont always route sound to the amplifier. I know some Yamaha amps do this via options in the menu, thanks guys

Hi thanks for your reply, I am in the UK so I assume the 7550HD is the same as the UK release 760. Will I be able to use a splitter on the ps3 instead? Sending two sets of signals from the HDMI one directly to the amp and the other directly to the TV, switching to 2 channel to get sound to the TV

It's been almost a year since I saw it in Denver!!!!

Caved in and talked with the HK support today re: my case. They mentioned that this unit's ETA now is expected to be first week of Sept likely or End of August possibly. Take it with a grain of salt as this has been the case every time someone has inquired.... I am without my AVR for almost 8 months now and just cannot wait for this guy to be out so I can get the AVR !!!

Their S/W group is global that had teams in India, Germany, Korea, Japan and the USA. Europe HK announced a 760 and 660, for the USA only the 7550HD has been advised. The 7550HD has some very awesome features including Dolby Volume, updated Logic 7, updated EZ/Set II EQ with stereo subwoofers, network, internet radio, USB including host capability, iPod audio & video with charging and remote control capability. Its amplifiers are of high performance, discrete output devices and high current. The product should be worth the wait....

The 7550HD is up for peorder on Amazon so hopefully it won't be more than another month before this AVR is finally released.

They look very promising if everything would work on them.

I am going to hold off and see how well they do work before ordering one. I was really interested in the AVR2600. It decodes all the new HD formats, of course, it has 4 HDMI INS, it weighs 31 LBS, and looks fabulous. I got a good pre order price from J&R and I am still waiting to see if Best Buy gets these in. I wonder if Best Buy and HK are still going to be doing business...Anyone know? But the AVR2600 is going to have to get almost perfect reviews for me to give up my trusty Denon AVR987. I mean no popping, crackling, losing the HDMI handshake, screwing up the new HD codes (IN ANY WAY), or any of the other dumb stuff Harman Kardon is known for lately. I love their sound, I think it, along with Denon, has the best around but thats where the comparisons end with Denon. HK has been very disappointing as of late. I think reading the 247/347 and 254/354 threads can tell anybody that. Hopefully since they will be on their third generation of HDMI receivers that it will be a charm for them.

I love that design. Though, it looks like they took the pre-outs out of their 254 equivalent and only have them in the 354 equivalent. That's too bad...

So anyone know if there will be replacements for the 445, 645, 745? The 7550HD now dead? Renamed? Any other models in the pipeline?

Really. I have looked there for months and nothing. It may have to do with them not being released yet. I think they are due in September. I wonder if Best Buy will get them...

they're using the Faroudja dcdi chipset for video, not sure how good or bad this is, though that comes standard with the hk 3600..

looking at all the relevant models, the Faroudja is the standard video processor, the only difference is the speaker output between the models...

as for the new model in the 7xxx series i doubt it will have ant improvement over the 3600 series

The 7550HD will ship @ the same time as the 1600, 2600 and 3600..

The AVR7550HD (USA) and AVR760 and 660 (Euro) have that capability.

If that's true, then all those units are a step down from my 635, as I can lay L7 7 over 5.1

I have some good news gentlmen..... :-) My 7550HD shipped yesterday and should be getting here by tomorrow. It is rated at 51.8LBs shipped, higher than any of the 3*** series and close to the orginal 745... I cannot wait! photos to come over the weekend. Anyone wanna make me an offer ? he he.

I received a UPS email yesterday my replacement 7550HD (for a prior 745) shipped last night!

2600, 3600 to the AVR 635??

Yes...
The 635 (and 435) can post-process via Logic 7 to 7.1 with a 5.1 DD or DTS stream..

But the 635 didn't have..
a. HDMI 1.3
b. DTS Master Audio decoding
c. Dolby Digital + decoding
d. Dolby True Audio decoding
e. Dolby Volume
f. Upscaling to 36 Bit Deep Color @1080p
g. HD OSD
h. Alpha Blend GUI
i. Sirius Satellite Radio Interface
j. Discrete IR Commands for Zone 1 & 2

But then again the 635 is 4 years old..

I didn't think I needed to state the obvious!
And I do consider those units to be a step down, as far as how L7 can be used. And as far as HDMI, I couldn't care less, at this point in time. As the newer audio can be had using 7.1 analogue inputs.

Yes, all those newer units do all the newest audio, but if one is watching a movie via cable, sat, ota, dvd, its all DD5.1, except for dts dvds. So if you're using one of those newer AVRs you're stuck with DD5.1.
With the older AVRs, like the 635, you can watch all those sources with L7~7.

Logic 7 is a great post-processing algorithm...
In fact in their new 7550HD Logic 7 has received some very audible upgrade refinements especially for the sound separation and steering.

Bottom line ..
Choose an AVR for its features, performance and value...
If the 635 fills the bill for you..
Keep and enjoy..
