Panasonic PZ80 owners

I currently have a Samsung 40A550 LCD that just doesn't have a very good SD picture from the comcast cable box. Lot's of shadows and loss of detail (I know that's not untypical of sd programming, but just would like to improve it)I was wondering how you owners of the PZ80 feel about your cable SD feed. I also have a Pioneer 50" plasma that I feel does a very satisfactory job with the SD feed from cable but I also sit back about 10-11 feet where as the 40" tv will be between 6 to 8 feet. Thanks for any input.

39 views and no owner opinions? C'mon guys let's share a little info as I know a lot of PZ80's have been sold out there and some of you have to have an opinon on SD viewing throguh a cable box or satellite box.

Plasma forum areas are less populated due to much less problems.

You know, people who complain hound these threads, not folks happy with their sets.

Thats why the LCD forums are so busy.

The only real comparison I have had with it is with my parents Sony A3000 SXRD, both hooked up to Comcast. I believe the pz80 looks slightly better in my eyes but this could be only because I have actually calibrated my picture while the Sony is still on default settings. Either way, I find myself only wanting to watch HD programming if at all possible, unless it's something I can't miss. I bought my pz80 last month and have had no issues with it and believe it is well worth the investment.

Thanks yertha. It's hard not to watch HD programming as it's so much better but do you get many shadows when watching SD material. Especially around any lettering or players in a football game or soccer even when not moving?

I've had my PZ80U for about a week. It replaced a 36"xbr crt. I've found that it does a better job with the sd stuff from my hr21 than my sony did. I also have a sd sat box that is feeding the tv component (sd) signal and it dosen't look good at all. i never really did with the crt though.

Thanks for the input. So are you saying that with your HD/DVR box that SD stations look pretty good but not with your regular SD box? Wonder why it would be box specific? I'm currently running a Motorola HD box from Comcast. The cable is also ran all the way from one side of the house to where this TV is at so I may also be having some signal loss as it's also being ran through a splitter.
